Staff Accountant
As part of our accounting team, you will serve as an integral part of our organization. You will provide high quality service by preparing and maintaining your assigned clients’ financial data in QuickBooks Online. The ability to think independently, take initiative, and perform your duties with a high degree of accuracy is essential to succeeding in this role. We believe soft skills are just as important and vital to succeeding in our company!
**Accounts Paybles, Receivables and GAAP are NOT part of this position.**
Duties:
- Perform monthly cash-based accounting / bookkeeping functions for assigned clients utilizing QuickBooks Online.
- Prepare 1099s compliance information.
- Fixed Asset / Depreciation for the preparation of Business Personal Property Tax Returns.
- Demonstrate excellent time management skills and use of current technology and tools to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of service.
- Meet monthly, quarterly and year-end deadlines.
- Assist with other accounting projects as needed.
- Review incoming client information and assess for completeness.
- Follow all applicable policies and procedures.
- Assist the onboarding team, as needed.
- Initiate and implement continuous improvement to our processes to improve internal team workflows, and efficiency.
- Ability to transition lessons learned and skillsets to future projects.
Qualifications:
1. Recent accounting experience, preferable with a public accounting firm.
2. Knowledge of Sales and Use Tax Returns, preferred.
3. Experience performing bank and credit card reconciliations, accounting, payroll, monthly close, adjusting entries, and financial statement preparation
4. Associate or Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred
5. Experience with QuickBooks Online required
6. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
7. Time management and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities and changing priorities is vital.
8. Due to dealing with sensitive information, a criminal background check is required.
9. Desire and ability to be innovative and creative with new ideas to improve workflow efficiency.
10. Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills.
11. Escalate operational and client issues as needed.
12. Discretion when handling confidential information.
13. Healthy comfort level with technology and ability to learn new technology quickly. We are a high-tech paperless firm.
14 .A people person with a warm personality.
15. Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of in-house staff and clients.
16. Ability to identify problems and offer workable solutions.
17. Ability to work independently, but also collaboratively.
18. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
19. Ability to work under periods of high pressure with tight timeframes while maintaining focus.

Due to the nature of our business, we do experience periods of peak workload, typically from January 1 - March 15 and the 1st – 15th of each month. A requirement of this role is the ability to work occasional overtime during this peak workload period.
