Full Job Description

The Front Office Receptionist is essential to the daily operation of the business. The ideal candidate will have a knowledge of or a willingness to learn all aspects of the office. Candidates must have excellent interpersonal, customer service and communication skills. A positive, outgoing and upbeat person is ideal for this position.

Front Office Receptionist Responsibilities:

Answer calls timely, professionally, and respectfully while listening closely to the caller. Answer questions accurately or direct the caller to the correct person that can assist them.
Schedule appointments accurately
Greet patients upon arrival
Check patients in for their appointment.
Update Medical History information
Update insurance cards
Make any necessary changes in the computer system
Discuss insurance benefits and determine patient responsibility
Receive payments for services and materials from patients
Knowledge of and/or ability to learn insurance programs
Request insurance authorizations prior to patient appointments
Submit insurance claims through multiple insurance company portals
Interpret benefits to better assist the patients with materials purchases
Willingness to contact insurance companies for further clarity on any issues or questions or to solve problems in a timely manner.
Log insurance payments monthly in computer system
Check in glasses and contacts as they arrive.
Look glasses over to insure they are the correct prescription
Look glasses over to insure they are in acceptable condition to give to the patient
Clean glasses when checking them in
Confirm contacts are correct
Call patients in a timely manner to inform them their order has arrived and is ready for pick-up.
Pulling and properly filing charts
Charts will be pulled prior to the week’s appointments
Exam forms will be started for each chart
Filing charts as needed
Inventory management
Maintain frame inventory
Communicate with frame company representatives to schedule for office visits and also request frame orders
Maintain contact trial inventory
Communicate with contact company representatives
Order glasses and contacts per patient requests.
Knowledge of or willingness to learn about lens options
Knowledge of or willingness to learn about the different contact supply amounts, discounts/rebates and pricing
All aspects of fitting and adjusting glasses for patients.
Willingness to train on vision testing equipment and administer tests on patients once trained.
Conduct patient appointment reminder calls as needed
Other office work as needed

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $14.50 per hour
