Full Job Description

**Please note this position is hiring for an Adult Day Program Opening Late July 2025-August 2025

Direct Care Staff
This position reports to the Direct Care Lead Staff and Administrator.

Qualifications:

All Direct Care Staff must be at least 18 years old or older, have a high school diploma or GED, and must have at least 6 months of experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities. The Direct Care Staff position must also posses the following prior to working in the home:

Successfully complete and pass the tests for DSP I and II, or pass the challenge test, prior to or within one year of employment
Fingerprint clearance
Current First- Aid and CPR, including training of abdominal thrust technique. Certification through an online course will not be accepted. Training must be obtained through class attendance that includes hands-on instruction.
Current certification of Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training within 6 months
Current State of California issued driver’s license and proof of current car insurance-if driving a company vehicle.
Proof of good physical health verified by a health screening, including a test for tuberculosis, performed under the supervision of a physician not more than one year prior to or seven days after employment or licensure.
Proof of COVID -19 vaccination

Duties:

Attend to the needs of each resident, including assisting them with grooming, bathing, hygiene, toileting, and feeding.
Support the needs and goals of each resident by taking them to medical, dental and mental health appointments, to visit family and friends, to preferred leisure/recreational activities, and by encouraging them to socialize with peers.
Follow all physicians' orders, including the administration of medication.
Ensure the resident is engaged in daily activities within the home environment and community including skill building, therapeutic, recreational and socialization training.
Ensure all court orders and proper reporting procedures are followed.
Schedule annual medical and dental appointments once per year or more frequently if prescribed on the individual program plan.
Schedule mental health appointments as needed and provide updates to the mental health specialist regarding status and on-going needs providing the parent(s) and/or authorized representative gives permission unless court order states otherwise.
Implement all recommendations provided by the attending mental health specialist.
Implement approved emergency procedures in the event of a fire, earthquake or other natural disaster.
Maintain a record of mental health, medical and dental visits, current weight, medication (dosage, frequency and times of administration, reasons for medications, (side effects), illnesses, injuries, special incidents, P&I funds and personal possessions.
Ensure meals are prepared in accordance with posted menus.
Ensure house values are followed and updated as needed by residents
Purchase food and supplies as instructed by the Administrator.
Maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment by cleaning the home, informing the Administrator about any broken/inoperable items, locking up medication and toxic chemicals, and reporting any problems that could cause injuries or illness
Communicate on a regular basis with the regional center, schools and other services providers and agencies, as needed.
Report special incidents and suspected resident abuse according to applicable laws and regulations.
Follow calendar of appointments, facility activities, meetings with the regional center, etc.
Attend staff meetings and participate in continuing education.
Maintain daily notes in accordance with Title 17 and Title 22, and other daily data collection as outlined in this facility program plan/program design and prescribed by the behaviorist.
