Full Job Description

Tax Compliance Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Tax Compliance Manager to oversee the company’s tax compliance framework, including tax reporting, audit readiness, regulatory compliance, and coordination of federal, state, and local tax matters. The ideal candidate will have strong corporate tax compliance experience and the ability to manage complex tax audits, regulatory inquiries, and large volumes of supporting documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate federal, state, and local tax audits.
Manage documentation requested by taxing authorities and ensure accurate, timely responses.
Serve as the primary internal contact for IRS Information Document Requests (IDRs), notices, examinations, and other tax inquiries.
Maintain audit ready tax files, supporting schedules, and workpapers.
Review and reconcile tax accounts, general ledger activity, and supporting documentation.
Oversee preparation and timely filing of corporate federal, state, and local tax returns.
Monitor tax deadlines, payments, extensions, notices, and outstanding tax matters.
Review historical tax filings to identify potential exposures and inconsistencies.
Develop procedures and internal controls for collecting, validating, and maintaining tax documentation.
Research federal, state, and local tax regulations and communicate relevant changes to leadership.
Assist with tax planning and forecasting.
Prepare management reports covering audit status, deadlines, exposures, and corrective actions.
Coordinate with external CPAs, auditors, tax advisors, and legal counsel.
Support special tax compliance projects and regulatory initiatives.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of progressive corporate tax compliance, accounting, or taxation experience.
Direct experience supporting or managing federal or state tax audits.
Experience managing large volumes of financial and tax documentation.
Strong knowledge of federal and state corporate taxation and tax audit processes.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, general ledger reconciliation, and financial documentation.
Experience responding to IRS audit requests and preparing supporting schedules and reconciliations.
Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems.
Excellent analytical, investigative, organizational, and project management skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to research and interpret tax regulations.
High level of discretion when handling confidential financial and tax information.

Pay: $95,821.86 - $115,398.37 per year
