Full Job Description

Medical Billing Coordinator Job Summary:
The Medical Billing Coordinator reviews unbilled reports and evaluates accounts to determine reasons for accounts in unbilled status. Resolve coding issues that do not allow accounts to be billed accurately. Responds to inquiries from internal departments related to resolution of coding or other issues to bill accounts

Medical Billing Coordinator Responsibilities:

Reviews daily report and research accounts pending discharge diagnosis.
Enters diagnoses data and procedure codes for inpatient and outpatient services.
Audits unbilled reports to identify root cause. Researches and responds to inquiries from internal departments related to accounts pending billing due to coding, date discrepancies, patient status, patient types, missing dates, codes and any other related issues.
Collaborates with other internal departments (i.e. PFS, CCI/DSS, Care Management) to resolve issues related to accounts.
Responds to working DRG requests on a timely basis.
Researches and responds to monthly lists from internal departments in a timely manner.
Processes education records, employee visits, and prepares records for permanent file.
Works daily with outpatient reports and lists from internal departments, to populate the account with final diagnosis for billing purposes.
Identifies inaccuracies of unbilled accounts and resolves deficiencies so account can be billed timely and accurately
Conducts research of accounts to identify the reason for accounts in pending a diagnoses status, procedures or other variables. Runs reports from created queries
Utilizing professional judgment to ascertain the deficiency in each account and resolve the deficiency to account can be billed accurately and timely.

Medical Billing Coordinator Knowledge & Experience:

One Year of experience in patient billing or coding in clinical/hospital setting
High school graduate or equivalent
Ability to utilize billing/coding and insurance office skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Good overall knowledge of Health Information Systems practices, procedures and guidelines.
Ability to analyze and solve problems.
Time management skills, with emphasis on ability to prioritize.
Ability to seek out new methods and principals to improve services.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Detailed oriented.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Strong customer service orientation.
Strong computer skills.
Ability to multi-task, multi-systems.

Pay & Schedule:

Pay $16/hr
Temporary – 130 weeks with possible extension
