Full Job Description

Join a team of manufacturing professionals and receive competitive pay, 4 day work weeks, day shifts, 401(k), and other benefits. At Efficient Machine Products, you’ll produce precision component parts for a variety of industries using multi-spindle screw machines.

Our Multi-Spindle Screw Machine Operators ensure machines are set up, operated, and maintained to meet company safety, quality, quantity, and efficiency standards. This role requires hands-on experience with multi-spindle equipment, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to monitor multiple cutting operations simultaneously.

Duties/Responsibilities

Set up and operate multi-spindle screw machines (e.g., Acme-Gridley, Davenport, Wickman, Brown & Sharpe) according to job specifications and setup sheets.
Read and interpret blueprints, job travelers, and tooling layouts to determine proper setup and machining sequence.
Set up and maintain tooling including form tools, drills, taps, reamers, Thread Rolls, Die threading and cut-off tools.
Follow set-up sheets and complete set-ups in the time allocated.
Verify first-piece and in-process parts using precision measuring instruments (plug and ring gauges, micrometers, calipers, comparators).
Load bar stock and ensure proper bar feeding and Bar counts during operation.
Monitor multiple spindles and tool stations to ensure consistent quality and machine performance.
Make adjustments to tooling, cams, and machine controls to maintain tolerances and production efficiency.
Troubleshoot issues such as tool wear, chatter, dimensional drift, and machine malfunctions.
Sharpen or replace tooling as needed using appropriate equipment (e.g., bench grinder).
Perform routine machine maintenance, including lubrication and cleaning.
Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
Follow all safety protocols related to rotating equipment, cutting fluids, and chip management.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Strong understanding of multi-spindle screw machine operations and mechanical systems.
Knowledge of cam-driven machinery, tooling setups, and progressive machining processes.
Ability to read blueprints, tooling layouts / progressions, and setup documentation.
Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and quality inspection processes.
Ability to identify and correct machining issues related to feeds, speeds, and tooling conditions.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple operations simultaneously.
Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.

Education and Experience:*

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.
Minimum of 1–3 years of experience operating or setting up multi-spindle screw machines required.
Experience with cam-driven machines and high-volume production environments strongly preferred.

Work Environment:

Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, cutting fluids, airborne particles, and machine vibration.
Noise levels are typically loud due to continuous machine operation.
Work is performed in a fast-paced production environment.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Frequent bending, reaching, crouching, and climbing to access machine components.
Ability to stand and move throughout the production facility for extended periods.
