Full Job Description

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support and care to individuals in various care settings, including assisted living, home health, and community environments. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for clients through attentive caregiving, patient observation, and personalized assistance with daily activities. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those with diverse needs, including seniors, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those requiring memory or dementia care.

Duties

Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
Monitor patients' health status by observing vital signs and reporting any changes to healthcare professionals promptly.
Provide medication reminders and assist with medication administration in accordance with care plans and HIPAA regulations.
Support patients during meal preparation and feeding, ensuring nutritional needs are met while accommodating dietary restrictions.
Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces.
Use specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices to safely transfer residents with mobility challenges.
Document patient progress and update care plans regularly to ensure personalized and effective support.
Engage clients in social activities and provide companionship to promote mental well-being and reduce feelings of isolation.

Requirements

Proven experience working in home care, assisted living, nursing homes, or group home settings.
Knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs measurement, and basic nursing procedures.
Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional training in Alzheimer's care, dementia care, or hospice care is preferred.
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of client information.
Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks safely while assisting residents with mobility or transfers.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or memory impairments is highly desirable.
