Full Job Description

Job Title: TruckMate / TMS Expert

Roles & Responsibilities

TruckMate Architecture & Customization Assessment

Lead the inventory and classification of all custom tables, views, stored procedures, triggers, and ETL hooks added to the TruckMate IBM DB2 schema beyond the standard schema.
Conduct usage and dependency analysis — identifying active production tables, BI/reporting feeds, orphaned objects, and hidden dependencies on third-party-maintained logic.
Produce per-table disposition recommendations: retain, replace with a native TruckMate capability, migrate to a peripheral system, or deprecate.
Map each disposition to applicable path-forward scenarios (on-prem upgrade, SaaS migration, full TMS replacement) and quantify the execution implications of each.
Establish a documentation standard — purpose, owner, data lineage, dependencies, disposition — so the rationalization output is usable by internal teams and future SI partners.

TruckMate Path-Forward Advisory

Develop a defensible point of view on the optimal forward path for the TruckMate environment, with full consideration of existing customization footprint and technical debt.
Assess feasibility and risk of upgrading to the current TruckMate on-prem version vs. migrating to TMS SaaS offering vs. transitioning to an alternative TMS platform.
Quantify one-time costs, recurring costs, and ROI for each path — including software, SI, and internal stakeholder time.
Evaluate data residency decisions (on-prem, cloud, hybrid) and their implications for each scenario.
Assess the go-forward vendor relationship model for third-party TruckMate support partners under each scenario.
Identify which customizations survive an upgrade unchanged, which require rework, and which block a SaaS migration outright.

Business Continuity & Resiliency

Assess high-availability and disaster-recovery posture for the TruckMate / IBM DB2 stack, including current single-point-of-failure exposure.
Recommend a failover architecture with documented RTO/RPO targets appropriate to the revenue sensitivity of the environment.
Quantify implementation cost, ongoing cost, and expected reduction in outage-related business risk.
Sequence the failover investment against broader technology roadmap priorities.

Stakeholder Engagement & Deliverable Production

Lead structured interviews with IT staff, third-party vendors, and business stakeholders in operations, billing, finance, and customer-facing functions to capture the business necessity behind each customization.
Produce a custom-table rationalization deliverable with per-table disposition, business-necessity rationale, dependency analysis, path-forward implications, and a sequenced execution plan.
Contribute to the TMS decision memo, risk register, and transaction-readiness assessment where TruckMate expertise is required.
Participate in executive and board-level readouts as the named TruckMate subject-matter expert.
Maintain working-level documentation and status updates throughout the engagement on a weekly cadence.

Integration & Data Architecture

Assess the integration architecture connecting TruckMate to peripheral systems — including EDI, API, and ETL connections to enterprise shippers, carriers, and internal BI tools.
Evaluate how customer-specific data attributes and integration staging are handled within the TruckMate schema and recommend a target-state approach.
Identify reporting and BI dependencies (e.g., Tableau dashboards, Excel extracts) that draw from TruckMate/DB2 and assess their exposure to schema changes under each path-forward scenario.
Recommend an integration architecture appropriate to the target-state TMS environment.

AI-Augmented Delivery

Leverage AI and LLM tooling to accelerate database profiling, code analysis, documentation summarization, and deliverable drafting — compressing timelines without sacrificing analytical rigor.
Apply AI-assisted tooling to inventory and assess technical debt across the TruckMate application and database layer.
Maintain human-in-the-loop review and quality-assurance controls on all AI-generated outputs before they are incorporated into client-facing deliverables.
Ensure all use of client data with AI tooling complies with applicable confidentiality, data-handling, and privacy obligations.
