Underground Utility Estimator

Coggins Construction Company, LLC
Location: Thomaston, Georgia
Job Type: Full-time, in-office
Schedule: 40 hours per week
Starting Salary: $70,000 annually, based on experience

Job Summary

Coggins Construction Company, LLC is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Underground Utility Estimator.

We will consider candidates with estimating experience in any construction-related field who are willing to learn underground utilities, as well as underground utility professionals who are willing to learn estimating.

Experience with Bid2Win and Bluebeam is preferred, but training will be provided for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

Review project plans, specifications, bid documents, and addenda.
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs.
Prepare estimates for labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
Solicit, review, and manage vendor and subcontractor quotes.
Identify project risks, conflicts, and unusual conditions.
Develop cost analyses using production rates, material pricing, and subcontractor quotes.
Prepare and submit accurate bid proposals by established deadlines.
Present estimates to management for review and approval.
Attend pre-bid meetings and visit project sites as needed.
Maintain organized estimating records and bid files.
Build professional relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
Communicate with management, field personnel, engineers, owners, vendors, and subcontractors.

Projects may include water mains, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, pump and lift stations, grading, excavation, jack-and-bore construction, and complete site development for municipal, private, and commercial clients.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Prior construction estimating or underground utility experience preferred.
Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and technical documents.
Experience with Bid2Win and Bluebeam preferred; training is available.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.
Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and time-management skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple estimates and meet deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Dependable, self-motivated, team-oriented, and willing to learn.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.

Travel Requirements

The estimator will attend pre-bid meetings and visit project sites, generally within 2.5 hours of the Thomaston office. A company vehicle will be available for authorized business travel.
