Full Job Description

Are you an experienced Settlement Specialist who enjoys bringing cases to a successful resolution, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in delivering an exceptional client experience? If so, we'd love to have you!

At Accident Justice, we believe that justice doesn't end with a settlement - - it ends when our clients receive the compensation they deserve quickly, accurately, and with outstanding service. We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Settlement Specialist to lead the settlement process from resolution through final disbursement.

This is a hands-on role for someone who takes ownership of their files, anticipates challenges before they arise, and works collaboratively with attorneys, case managers, medical providers, lienholders, insurance companies, and clients to ensure every settlement is handled efficiently and accurately. You'll play a critical role in guiding clients through the final stage of their case while ensuring trust account compliance, timely funding, lien resolution, and prompt disbursement of settlement proceeds.

Specialist Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Manage all aspects of the settlement and disbursement process from settlement agreement through final file closure.
Obtain and verify medical balances and outstanding provider claims.
Negotiate provider reductions and ensure accurate resolution of medical bills and liens.
Review, manage, and resolve health insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, ERISA, and other third-party liens.
Coordinate funding and settlement proceeds with insurance carriers and defense counsel.
Prepare settlement statements and disbursement packages for attorney and client review.
Work closely with accounting and trust account personnel to ensure accurate handling and distribution of settlement funds.
Maintain detailed documentation and case notes throughout the settlement process.
Communicate regularly with clients regarding settlement status, balances, distributions, and final case resolution.
Ensure compliance with all legal, ethical, and firm procedures related to settlement administration.
Facilitate timely and accurate case closure upon completion of all disbursements and obligations.

What We’re Looking For

Minimum 3 years of experience handling personal injury settlements and disbursements.
Demonstrated experience with:
Personal injury settlement administration
Balance verifications
Provider reductions and negotiations
Health insurance lien resolution
Medicare, Medicare Advantage and Medicaid liens
Trust account and disbursement coordination
Strong understanding of medical billing, lien resolution, and settlement accounting processes.
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple files and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with case management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

The ideal candidate is someone who takes ownership of their files, anticipates issues before they arise, and understands the importance of creating a smooth and positive experience for clients at the conclusion of their case. Client & Stakeholder Communication:

Interact professionally with clients, attorneys, insurance companies, and other parties involved in settlements to facilitate smooth communication and resolution of issues.
Provide clients with regular updates on the settlement process via email, phone, or text.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred) – A degree in Legal Studies, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
Paralegal Certification (Optional).
Experience in a plaintiff personal injury law firm.
Knowledge of ERISA reimbursement claims, Medicare, AHCCCS, health insurance, medical provider liens, and complex lien resolution.
Experience preparing settlement statements and coordinating trust account disbursements.
Experience handling ERISA, in personal injury matters preferred.
Personal injury law experience is required.
Relevant Legal Training – Experience with legal settlements, negotiations.
Three years of experience in handling settlements.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage complex cases in a fast-paced legal environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Able to read and review detailed documents, spreadsheets, and computer screens for long periods to ensure accuracy in settlement processing.
Ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys and other departments
