Job description:

Summary:

The Production Assistant supports daily administrative, clerical, and operational activities within the manufacturing environment. This role is essential to keeping the manufacturing office and plant operations running smoothly by managing administrative tasks, coordinating documentation, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring clear communication between office staff, production teams, maintenance, and management. Responsibilities include processing work orders, maintaining production records, preparing reports, supporting compliance and safety documentation, and assisting directly on the plant floor when needed. The ideal candidate is proactive, comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial setting, and willing and able to be hands-on in the plant to support production and operational needs as required.

Essential Functions:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

· Order and maintain supplies for the production team.

· Assist the maintenance team by printing, organizing, and tracking work orders (WOs) and preventative maintenance tasks (PMs).

· Review and quality-check daily production reports for accuracy and completeness.

· Support education and training efforts within the production department, including hands-on training, recordkeeping, and coordination of annual training requirements to meet department standards.

· Complete required safety certifications, which may include Forklift, LOTO, Skid Steer, Scissor Lift, or other training as assigned.

· Assist in organizing annual hearing testing

· Complete fire extinguisher inspections and support replacement when extinguishers are used, expired, damaged, or otherwise require replacement.

· Complete ladder inspections and other required safety or facility inspections as assigned.

· Record the weekly BOS safety score.

· Translate documents into Spanish using approved software or available resources as needed.

· Provide hands-on support in the plant as needed, including unloading pallets, removing dust sacks, and assisting production or warehouse teams with operational tasks.

· Manage, organize, and compile records for pest control services.

Required Education and Experience:

· High School Diploma / GED

· 1+ years of related experience in a manufacturing environment or relevant field.

· Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Required Skills:

· Proven competency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

· Proven ability to modify, organize, and maintain controlled documents.

· Ability to clearly communicate and train staff at all levels on safety policies and procedures.

· Ability to communicate quickly and effectively with other departments.

· Ability to investigate and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and use sound judgment to draw valid conclusions.

· Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

· Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities thoroughly and completely.

· Ability to carry tasks and projects through to completion while meeting established deadlines with limited oversight.

· Willingness and ability to work hands-on in the plant, warehouse, and production areas as operational needs require.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

This job operates within a manufacturing, warehouse, and shipping facility. The office area is climate controlled; temperatures and conditions may vary in the warehouse and production areas. The position requires the ability and willingness to work both in an office setting and hands-on in the plant when necessary. Physical requirements may include standing, walking, sitting, lifting up to 50 lbs., carrying, pushing/pulling, balancing, kneeling, and crawling.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Standard workdays and hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Flexibility for early hours, evening hours, and weekend work may be required based on BPV operational demands.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Travel:

No overnight or long-distance travel is expected for this position.

Local travel may be required for errands or business-related needs.
