Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Traveling Commercial Carpentry Foreman specializing in Division 9 scopes to lead our field operations. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing on-site crews executing light-gauge metal framing, exterior sheathing, drywall hanging/finishing, and Acoustical Ceiling Tile (ACT) installations.

This position requires extensive overnight out-of-town travel, a strong safety mindset, and proven field leadership experience in high-production commercial construction environments.

Key Responsibilities

Site & Production Management: Layout and oversee day-to-day installation of light-gauge structural/interior metal framing, exterior sheathing, drywall assemblies, and ACT systems according to project prints and submittals.
Manpower Coordination: Direct, schedule, and manage field labor, framing crews, drywall hangers/finishers, and ceiling installers to hit aggressive production targets.
Change Order Identification: Monitor project scope closely. Identify field variances or out-of-scope requests, document the tracking metrics, and coordinate with the Project Manager to execute change orders before proceeding.
Quality Control: Enforce strict trade standards for plumb/level framing, proper fastening patterns, fire-rated assembly compliance, level 4/5 drywall finishes, and crisp grid layout/wire tying for acoustical ceilings.
Safety & OSHA Compliance: Enforce job site safety regulations, including proper scaffolding erection, aerial lift safety, PPE usage, and routine toolbox talks.

Required Qualifications

Experience: 5 to 10 years of experience as a commercial framing/drywall foreman or lead carpenter managing field operations, manpower, and production schedules.
Trade Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of heavy/light-gauge metal stud framing, exterior gypsum sheathing, shaft wall systems, drywall hanging/finishing, and standard/specialty ACT suspension systems.
Travel Flexibility: Must have the unconditional ability and willingness to travel out-of-town for overnight projects regularly.
Project Controls: Proficient in reading complex architectural drawings, structural layouts, and reflected ceiling plans (RCPs), as well as tracking daily logs and material sheets.
Licensing: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Skills

OSHA 30 Certification.
Scaffold competent person training and aerial lift certification.
Experience tracking field notes or daily logs via construction software (e.g., PlanGrid, Procore).
