Full Job Description

Custom Metal Fabricator / Welder
Urban Sign Group – Holmes, PA (Delaware County)
Full-time | $26–$33/hr based on experience

Become part of a custom sign manufacturing shop with national, high-profile work to talk about!

Position Summary:
As a Custom Metal Fabricator/Welder, you will follow technical shop drawings to build signage and architectural elements from start to finish: blueprint reading, material selection, cutting, forming, welding, and fit-up through final assembly. This is a senior-track role: you'll work directly alongside our lead sign fabricator, one of the most experienced in the region, with a defined path to becoming the go-to fabricator in our shop. We're looking for someone who wants to master the craft of custom sign fabrication, not just fill a seat.

What makes the work at USG different:
Our projects are custom. No two builds are the same. The signs and structures fabricated in our shop are made for and installed at:

National retail and restaurant brands with locations across the country
Regional businesses, healthcare systems, and commercial developments
Historic neon restoration projects through our Urban Neon division, work you won't find at a typical sign shop
Channel letters, cabinets, monument signs, pylons, custom architectural elements, and more

Essential Functions:

Read and interpret shop drawings, product specs, and assembly instructions
Verify dimensions and select materials per work orders
Use shears, brakes, saws, plasma cutter, and drill press to create parts to specified shapes and lengths
Fit, tack, and weld aluminum and steel structures, primarily MIG
Finish parts by grinding, polishing, and cleaning to prep for paint
Assist with electrical prep and lighting installation per schematics, as applicable
Maintain a clean, organized work area
Collaborate with project managers and the shop team to keep production flowing

Work Environment:

Clean, well-ventilated manufacturing shop
Standing, bending, and twisting for most of the day
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
Strict adherence to safety guidelines and PPE: safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, welding gear, ear protection as required

Required Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent
5+ years of hands-on welding and fabrication experience in a manufacturing, sign, or custom metal shop
Strong MIG welding on both steel and aluminum required
TIG, flux core, and/or stick a plus
Proven ability to work independently from shop drawings and blueprints — select materials, create cut lists, and build to spec with minimal supervision
Ability to operate a full range of fabrication equipment: shears, brakes, saws, plasma cutter, drill press
Ability to hold tight tolerances and self-inspect for quality
Strong work ethic and spectacular attention to detail
Welding certification a plus, not required
