Sky Staff, LLC (“Sky Staff”) is seeking an exceptional Construction Accountant who wants more than a traditional accounting position. Position Summary
The Construction Accountant serves as a key member of Sky Staff’s finance team, leading complex accounting activities, financial reporting, Work in Progress (WIP) reporting, project profitability analysis, and month, quarter, and year-end close processes while partnering with executive leadership to support strategic financial decisions.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting & Accounting
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements.
- Perform complex account reconciliations and financial analysis.
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries.
- Maintain General Ledger integrity and ensure GAAP compliance.
- Support audit preparation and external reporting requirements.
- Assist with tax preparation and financial compliance requirements.
- Analyze budget-to-actual performance, cash flow trends, and financial forecasts to support project and organizational decision-making.
Construction Accounting
- Prepare and maintain Work in Progress (WIP) schedules.
- Manage revenue recognition and percentage-of-completion accounting.
- Analyze project profitability and job cost performance.
- Review project budgets, forecasts, commitments, and cost reports.
- Monitor project financial performance and proactively identify financial risks.
- Support project closeout and final financial reconciliations.
- Work closely with Project Managers and Operations Leadership.
Cost Accounting Allocations
- Develop and maintain Chart of Accounts structures.
- Review and improve cost coding standards.
- Manage labor burden allocation methodologies.
- Oversee equipment cost allocations.
- Support overhead allocation and indirect cost recovery processes.
- Perform intercompany accounting and multi-entity allocations.
- Recommend and implement financial process improvements and standardization.
Insurance Recovery & Forensic Accounting
- Support insurance claim preparation and validation.
- Analyze claim-related costs and supporting documentation.
- Prepare documentation supporting business interruption and builder’s risk claims.
- Support FEMA reimbursement documentation.
- Perform property loss accounting and damage quantification.
- Support insurance audits and claim reconciliation activities.
- Maintain financial records supporting insurance recovery efforts.
Leadership & Development
- Mentor Project Accountants and junior accounting personnel.
- Assist with training and process development.
- Recommend and implement accounting process improvements and best practices.
- Participate in strategic improvement initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Strong understanding of GAAP.
- Demonstrated experience with construction accounting.
- Strong understanding of WIP reporting and revenue recognition.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
- Construction industry accounting experience
- Healthcare construction accounting experience
- CPA preferred or actively pursuing CPA licensure.
- Restoration and remediation accounting experience
- Equipment rental accounting experience
- Real estate development accounting exposure
- Manufacturing and supply chain accounting exposure
