Position Overview

JHB Group is seeking a full-time Accounting Specialist to support and maintain the company’s accounting and financial operations. This position will be responsible for traditional accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, payroll support, and financial recordkeeping, while also taking an active role in budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow planning, financial reporting, inventory accounting, and project costing.

This is a hands-on accounting position ideal for someone who is comfortable managing the details of day-to-day accounting while also helping the company better understand its financial performance and plan for future needs.

As JHB Group continues to grow, this position will help develop and improve the financial processes, reports, and controls necessary to support the business.

Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Accounting & Bookkeeping

Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Perform bank, credit card, and account reconciliations.
Maintain general ledger accounts and supporting documentation.
Assist with monthly and year-end closing processes.
Prepare and maintain financial statements and supporting schedules.
Record and reconcile payroll activity and assist with payroll processing.
Maintain vendor records, invoices, payments, expense documentation, and other accounting records.
Work with outside accountants, tax professionals, and other financial partners as needed.

Budgeting & Forecasting

Assist in developing and maintaining the company’s annual operating budget.
Create and update financial forecasts based on sales, expenses, staffing, purchasing, production, and other anticipated business activity.
Develop and maintain cash-flow projections to help anticipate upcoming financial needs.
Compare actual financial results against budgets and forecasts.
Identify and research significant variances between expected and actual performance.
Work with leadership and department managers to understand anticipated expenses and incorporate them into company forecasts.
Regularly update forecasts as business conditions change.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

Prepare recurring financial reports for company leadership.
Track revenue, expenses, gross margin, labor costs, overhead, and overall profitability.
Compare current financial performance to prior periods, budgets, and forecasts.
Help identify financial trends, unexpected expenses, cost increases, and areas for improvement.
Develop and maintain spreadsheets, reports, and dashboards that provide greater visibility into company finances.
Provide financial information and analysis to assist leadership with purchasing, staffing, pricing, and other business decisions.

Project & Trailer Costing

Assist in developing and maintaining accurate costing for trailers, projects, and products.
Track materials, labor, inventory usage, outside services, and other costs associated with production.
Compare estimated project costs to actual costs.
Help identify cost overruns and discrepancies.
Assist with analyzing gross margin and profitability by trailer, project, product, or business line.
Provide costing information to support future estimating and pricing decisions.

Inventory Accounting

Work closely with the Inventory Manager to maintain accurate inventory valuation and financial records.
Reconcile inventory records with accounting records.
Assist with physical inventory counts and inventory adjustments.
Review purchasing, receiving, and inventory transactions for accuracy.
Help develop processes that improve the accuracy of inventory and parts-costing information.

Payroll & Employee-Related Accounting

Assist with payroll processing and payroll reconciliations.
Maintain accurate records related to wages, benefits, reimbursements, deductions, and payroll liabilities.
Ensure payroll expenses are properly categorized and recorded.
Assist with required payroll, tax, insurance, and financial reporting.

Accounting Processes & Controls

Help document and improve accounting procedures as the company grows.
Identify discrepancies, inefficiencies, or gaps in existing financial processes.
Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation.
Help establish appropriate approval, reconciliation, and documentation processes.
Assist in developing stronger financial controls and reporting practices throughout the organization.

Qualifications

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent accounting experience will also be considered.
2+ years of bookkeeping, accounting, or related financial experience preferred.
Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general accounting practices.
Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software preferred.
Strong Excel and/or Google Sheets skills.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, inventory, manufacturing, or project costing is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies.
Comfortable working with financial data and learning new accounting processes.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with leadership and other departments.
Willingness to take ownership of projects and help build processes that may not currently exist.

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
