Job Details – Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN)

Position: Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN)
Facility: Kona Community Hospital
Location: Kealakekua, HI 96750
Employment Type: Contract
Shift: Nights
Schedule: 72 Hours Every Two Weeks
Pay Rate: $60.00 – $70.00 per hour

Job Summary

Kona Community Hospital is seeking an experienced Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN) to provide exceptional patient care across multiple departments. The selected candidate will float between two Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units and provide care for Medical-Surgical overflow patients in the ICU and Emergency Department as needed. This role requires strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care to patients across assigned units.
Float between two Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units based on staffing needs.
Care for Medical-Surgical overflow patients in the ICU and Emergency Department.
Perform comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing reassessments.
Administer medications, IV therapy, and blood products as ordered.
Monitor patient conditions, laboratory results, and diagnostic findings.
Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
Accurately document patient care using the EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
Educate patients and families on treatment plans and discharge instructions.
Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and quality initiatives.

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) License.
Minimum of 3 years of recent RN experience required.
Recent Medical-Surgical/Telemetry experience required.
Previous Float Pool, ICU, or Emergency Department experience preferred.
EPIC EMR experience is required.
Current BLS certification required.
ACLS certification preferred.
Strong critical thinking, communication, and patient care skills.
