Full Job Description

We are currently hiring a Full-time drivers (Sunday through Thursday) class b preferred but not required

Located in Danville in the scenic East Bay Area, The Reutlinger Community provides comfortable accommodations and personalized care for up to 180 seniors. Newly renovated to better serve residents, The Reutlinger Community currently offers room and board in specialized Assisted Living, Enhanced Care, Memory Care and Rehabilitation.

The Reutlinger Community is staffed by seasoned specialists with decades of experience in senior care and skilled nursing. We offer competitive salaries and benefits, as well as the opportunity to make a positive contribution in the lives of our residents and our community.

The Driver supports Eskaton’s WellPath Program by providing safe, reliable, and welcoming transportation for residents, ensuring every ride contributes to comfort, connection, and community engagement.

II.

A. Safely transports residents to and from scheduled destinations—including appointments, outings, and community events—ensuring each trip reflects Eskaton’s Welcoming and Empowerment values.

B. Provides assistance to residents entering and exiting vehicles, including operation of wheelchair lifts and securement of mobility devices, ensuring comfort, dignity, and safety.

C. Engages residents respectfully during transportation, supporting conversation and connection consistent with Eskaton’s person-directed approach.

D. Adapts to individual mobility needs and provides physical assistance with care and professionalism.

E. Maintains awareness of each resident’s well-being during trips and reports any health or behavioral concerns to the Director of Resident Services promptly.

A. Performs and documents daily vehicle safety inspections, including completion of checklists before and after operation

B. Maintains proper fuel, oil, and fluid levels, and ensures vehicles are clean, well-maintained, and ready for use at all times.

C. Coordinates with Maintenance for routine service, repairs, and preventive maintenance; promptly reports safety or mechanical issues.

D. Completes and maintains accurate records such as mileage logs, safety inspections, maintenance reports, and trip sheets.

E. Complies with all applicable state and federal transportation regulations (e.g., Vehicle Code, Health and Safety Code) and Eskaton’s internal safety policies.

F. Handles vehicle incidents, accidents, or emergencies according to Eskaton procedures and completes required reports promptly and accurately.

G. Operates vehicles in a manner that ensures resident safety, comfort, and confidence at all times.

A. Responds to resident transportation requests in a timely, respectful manner, creating a positive and reassuring experience before, during, and after each trip.

B. Takes initiative to resolve transportation-related concerns or ensures appropriate follow-up by the Director of Resident Services.

C. Communicates clearly with residents, families, and staff about transportation schedules, routes, and any changes that may affect service.

d. Follows required dress code and Eskaton’s Community Appearance Standards. Maintains a professional image to the public and residents.

e. Works in accordance with established safety guidelines; uses proper body mechanics; follows safe work practices; wears appropriate safety gear.

IV.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Valid California driver’s license; ability to operate large vans safely and skillfully.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
No moving violations or preventable accidents within the past three years.
Prior experience transporting older adults or individuals with mobility challenges preferred.
Current CPR and First Aid Certification.

Sedentary Work

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently. Sedentary work involves sitting more than 67% of a typical workday.

Light Work

Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work.

Medium Work

Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Heavy Work

Exerting over 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds or force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. If related to patient care - Must be able to safely assist residents/patients including but not limited to lifting, turning, supporting weight and movement.

Qualifications
Class B Driver’s License with clean DMV record. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with customers including residents, family members, visitors, facility employees, government agencies/personnel and the general public.

The final candidate must successfully pass The Reutlinger Community's post offer, pre-employment testing which includes a criminal background check, drug test, TB screen test, COVID-19 test and health screen with or without back evaluation depending on position.
