Assignment Overview

Shift: Days, 4x12hrs
Hours: 48 hrs/wk
Start Date: Sep 14, 2026

Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an LTAC position requiring 2+ years of current LTACH experience and a KY or compact RN license.

Details

facility setting
Care for LTAC patients across ICU, Med/Surg, Med/Surg/Tele, and PCU work settings
1:5 patient ratios
Meditech EMR experience preferred
Day shift rotating schedule: one week of 3x12-hour shifts and the next week of 4x12-hour shifts (7:00-19:30)
36/48 schedule across the two-week pay period totaling 84 hours
Float required within scope of practice
Every other weekend required
Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated

Requirements

Active KY or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
Minimum 2 years of current LTACH experience required
Med/Surg, Telemetry, or ICU experience preferred
Community hospital experience preferred
Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
Prior travel nurse experience required
Skilled in cardiac medications including antiarrhythmics, anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, IV vasopressors, and thrombolytic agents
Experience with continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and insulin drip titration
Respiratory skills including ABG interpretation, ventilator management, tracheostomy care, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
IV therapy skills including arterial line, central line, PICC line, and peripheral line management
Experience with blood product administration and starting/maintaining IVs
Genitourinary/renal skills including AV-shunt/fistula care, foley catheter insertion, and management of renal failure
Endocrine management including blood glucose monitoring and IV insulin protocols
Cardiovascular care experience including CHF and post-MI management
Neurological assessment skills including stroke scale assessment and care for CVA, TBI, and spinal cord injury patients
Gastrointestinal care including GI bleed management, NG tube insertion, ostomy care, and tube feedings
Musculoskeletal skills including Hoyer lift use
Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation/management and 12-lead EKG acquisition
Complex wound care and infection prevention/isolation precaution skills required
Two professional references required: one from a charge nurse or higher and one supervisor reference, both completed within the last year
Copy of certifications and unexpired driver's license (matching permanent address) required for consideration

Additional Information

Provide direct patient care in a long-term acute care setting managing complex, high-acuity patients
Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be considered; local candidates are not accepted
Up to 7 days of RTO may be considered but must be submitted upfront with no changes accepted
Must work either a major or minor holiday during the assignment
Travel pairs are accepted on a limited basis and will not be scheduled on the same shift or unit
Travelers who have completed a one-year assignment must take a minimum 6-month break before returning to this facility
