UNARMED SECURITY OFFICER (Day Shift)
GCI Security, Inc. | St. Louis, Missouri | $18.00-19.00/hr

POSITION SUMMARY

As an unarmed security officer, you’ll play a critical role in delivering worry-free protection to the people and places we serve. Whether stationed at a residential neighborhood, retail store, or office building, your presence will provide peace of mind through professionalism, visibility, and vigilance. Starting Pay: $18.00-19.00 per hour (depending on experience)

OBJECTIVES

Maintain a high-visibility presence to deter crime and reinforce client peace of mind.
Conduct routine foot and/or vehicle patrols to monitor premises, secure perimeters, and identify safety concerns.
Observe and report suspicious activity or safety hazards promptly and accurately.
Provide friendly, professional interaction with residents, guests, employees, and the general public.
Enforce site-specific policies and procedures while maintaining GCI’s standards of courtesy and respect.
Write clear, detailed incident reports and daily shift logs using GCI’s reporting systems.
Respond to alarms, disturbances, or incidents with calm, sound judgment and professionalism.
Assist emergency personnel as needed and communicate effectively with law enforcement when required.
Maintain a clean, professional appearance and represent the GCI brand with integrity at all times.
Stay alert, aware, and present — minimizing distractions while on duty.
Prepare each post for success by arriving on time, following post orders, and completing all shift responsibilities.
Communicate regularly with field supervisors and dispatch to ensure seamless coverage and quick response.
Participate in ongoing training to build professional skills and prepare for advancement opportunities within GCI.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Must be at least 21 years of age.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
Prior security experience required. Military, or customer service experience is a plus.
Must have reliable transportation to and from assigned job sites.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8–12 hours per shift).
Ability to patrol on foot or in a vehicle, depending on the post assignment.
Must be able to respond quickly to emergencies and navigate stairs, uneven surfaces, or outdoor environments as needed.
Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
Must be able to observe and hear accurately to assess environments and respond appropriately.Occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required.
