Executive Summary
Foster Care In The U.S. Inc. seeks a dedicated, knowledgeable, and experienced BSW Case Manager with a proven track record of developing, implementing and managing the Treatment Plan goals and objectives of the youth and young adults that the organization provides services to. Reporting to the CEO, the BSW is responsible for handling confidential material and internal, and external, reports, letters, documentation and correspondence to aid clients in the achievement of their goal of self-sufficiency in support of Foster Care In The U.S. Inc.’s operations. The ideal candid will be licensed by the state of Indiana, be dependable, reliable, trustworthy and will understand the importance, and sensitive nature, of working with diverse populations of young individuals who are experiencing homelessness and who may be dealing with severe trauma of some kind. The ability to multitask, control your temper and temper your words, manage complex and delicate situations and issues, manage the flow of work in an extremely busy office environment, and an ability to manage mental health crisis situations is essential to this position.

About Foster Care In The U.S. Inc.
Foster Care In The U.S. Inc.’s mission is to End Youth Homelessness. Our Founder, Jessica Angélique, transitioned out of the institution of Foster Care into homelessness with her son, at the age of sixteen, in Evansville, IN. After achieving housing, she went back to help those that had supported her. Eventually, she began receiving requests for help with services or resources that were not in existence, so she started a list of those things. That list, started nearly forty years ago, became the basis and foundation from which the organization was built. Since receiving its 501(c)3 in 2019, the organization has continued to provide and create the services and resources aimed at fighting poverty, homelessness, racism and housing instability for marginalized populations.
Core Responsibilities
- Serve as Case Manager point of contact for clients in Pettijohn Housing and those actively enrolled in the IATT Project as well as youth in the community seeking resources for stability
- Provide on-going, detailed, treatment and Case Management services to clients
- Achieve organizational and client goals while upholding all policies, procedures and best practices of the Foster Care In The U.S. Inc. organization
- Work to always ensure the health and welfare of our clients
BSW Duties
- Assess, and provides treatment for clients using the DSM-5, for both substance abuse and mental health needs assessments
- Collaborates to develop appropriate supports and interventions with the CEO and other community resources
- Demonstrate exceptional skill in evidence-based practices and theories to work with youth and young adults and their families
- Screens admissions for high-risk program participants who may require more care than what the scope of our program is equipped to provide
- Assists clients to fully utilize community resources and gives proper and accurate direction and advice in the utilization of those resources
- Documents social work intervention in a timely manner
- Counsels’ clients to achieve an optimal level of psychosocial functioning
- Handle crisis situations as they arise and immediately reports new information and changes to the CEO
- Represents the nonprofit to the public in a professional manner
- Participates in professional work development
- Develops, implements and oversees youth-focused Treatment Plans in keeping with the organizations mission and vision
- Travel as required
- Is fiscally responsible and trustworthy
- Ensures all organizational policies and procedures are strictly adhered to
- Other duties as deemed necessary by the CEO
- Maintain a professional relationship with program participants, vendors, volunteers and other staff at all times

- Previous experience as an BSW at another youth organization, foundation, school, or company

- Dependable, reliable, punctual and trustworthy and will maintain trustworthiness
- Multilingualism is preferred, but not required
- Developing and implementing mental health assessments
- Experience working with diverse, marginalized, populations of youth and young adult
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in social work is requirement of this position
- Licensure as an BSW by the state of Indiana is required
- 3+ years of experience in working with diverse populations of young people in a congregate program, community environment and/or nonprofit setting or atmosphere
- Experience managing budgets and expenses
- Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Absolute proficiency and knowledge of computers, android tablets/computers, MAC Books and Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). You MUST be able to create documents as instructed, when needed, without needing training or a training course to do so. You will be thoroughly tested on this proficiency before being offered this position
- Valid Indiana Driver’s license and Insurance coverage
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evening and/or weekend hours
Compensation & Benefits
This is an hourly position that pays $25.00 an hour. This position is part-time with cumulative weekly hours set at 30. This position comes with a benefits package including paid time off, health insurance support, paid parental leave, mental health care, a four-day workweek, and structured salary increases.

- Scheduling appointments
- Verifying information for accuracy
- Working with various other non-profit programs in support of youth and our operations
