Full Job Description

The Soho Center for Mental Health Counseling is expanding into Florida as The Soho Center 305, and we're hiring a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern to provide remote psychotherapy to clients across the state. This is a full-time position for a post-master's clinician accruing supervised hours toward LMHC licensure. Our focus is training and support. You receive weekly supervision and ongoing clinical development, along with consistent referrals and administrative support that keep your time on clinical work.

The Soho Center for Mental Health Counseling was founded by Anthony Freire, LMHC, QS, NCC, CCMHC, alongside Kelley Hershman, LMHC, QS, and Alexander Badillo, JD, LMHC, QS who built the practice around a team approach to care. From the start, the founders recruited postgraduate therapists from some of the most respected programs in the country, including New York University, Columbia University, Fordham University, and Hunter College, and every clinician completes a rigorous training and hiring process before carrying a caseload.

Training the next generation of clinicians is part of who we are. Our clinical directors and many of our supervisors are professors at New York University, where they teach mental health counseling, and the practice serves as a clinical supervision center for pre-licensed and newly licensed professionals. Supporting clinicians through their development, deepening their clinical education, and expanding their skills is work we take seriously. As a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern, you would be completing your supervised hours inside that same system, now serving Florida clients under Florida regulations.

Supervision and Training:

You will be supervised by Kelley Hershman, LMHC, QS, Co-Founder and Clinical Director, who brings fifteen years of clinical experience and has led the practice as an owner for the past ten years. Clinicians begin with a structured, paid training emphasizing assessment, diagnosis, case conceptualization, treatment planning, and evidence-informed intervention. This training includes paid mock-client sessions designed to strengthen clinical judgment, documentation, and therapeutic decision-making. Concurrently, the practice begins building your paid client caseload.

Throughout your work with us, you receive:

Direct supervision from a Clinical Director
Supplemental Group supervision available during the week
Access to resources available to both the Florida and New York practice

Qualification Requirements:

Hold a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling or a closely related field
Be registered, or eligible to register, as a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern in Florida
Have completed between 0 and 2,000 hours toward licensure
Reside in Florida and be licensed or eligible for licensure in Florida
Adhere to Florida Board regulations and the ACA Code of Ethics

Clinical Expectations:

Successful candidates demonstrate

Provide individual psychotherapy, with optional couples work, to a diverse client population
Build and maintain a caseload of 25 to 30 clinical sessions per week
Strong clinical judgment and the ability to assess and manage crisis situations
Participate in weekly one-on-one supervision session
Complete all clinical documentation within 24 hours of each session
Familiarity with DSM-5 diagnostic criteria
The ability to work effectively with diverse populations
Openness to feedback, supervision, and collaboration

Experience or interest in any of the following is a plus:

Psychodynamic therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Family systems
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
Client-centered approaches

What We Provide:

Weekly individual and group supervision from senior clinicians
Structured training focused on your clinical development
Consistent patient referrals, along paid subscription to Psychology Today
Full administrative support, including scheduling, billing, and intake coordination

Compensation and Benefits:

$45.00 per hour, fee-for-service
Earning potential up to approximately $60,000-$75,000 per year with a full, consistent caseload

Benefits include (The first 60 days are a trial period to build your caseload up to 25-30 clients)
