Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic Float Pool team. This role offers the opportunity to provide exceptional patient care across a variety of clinical settings, including acute care, outpatient, long-term care, and specialty units. The RN Float Pool Nurse will be responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing services, demonstrating clinical expertise, and maintaining high standards of patient safety and satisfaction. This position is ideal for motivated professionals eager to expand their experience in diverse healthcare environments while contributing to a collaborative and supportive team.

Responsibilities

Deliver direct patient care in multiple hospital departments, including medical-surgical, ICU, emergency room, pediatrics, geriatrics, and specialty units such as cardiology and ophthalmology.
Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations.
Administer medications and injections accurately following established protocols and aseptic techniques.
Monitor patients’ conditions closely, managing acute pain, airway management, ventilator support, and infusion therapies.
Document all patient interactions comprehensively within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Assist with complex procedures including suturing, catheterization, dialysis access management, and tube feeding.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control standards across all settings.
Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding treatment plans and health coaching.
Maintain proficiency in emergency procedures such as basic life support (BLS) and airway management.

Skills

Proven experience in diverse clinical environments including critical care units (ICU), emergency medicine, hospital medicine, or post-acute care settings.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and medical documentation standards.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
Competence in performing IV insertions, phlebotomy, specimen collection/processing, and sterile processing techniques.
Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities preferred.
Ability to adapt quickly to different clinical workflows while maintaining high-quality patient care.
Excellent communication skills for effective triage assessments and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques across various procedures.
Understanding of Workers' Compensation law related to occupational health cases is advantageous.
Flexibility to work across multiple shifts including nights, weekends, or holidays as needed.
