Confidential search. We're an established, family-owned heavy-duty shop adding to our team, and we're keeping this one quiet for now. Reach out and we'll tell you exactly who we are.
Mobile Diesel Techs: Tired of being the guy who can actually fix it… while the shop around you keeps making your job harder?
You know the drill.
You roll up to a roadside call with a driver whose downtime clock is running. You read the data, find the real problem — not the parts-dart guess — and get the rig moving again.
And what do you get for it?
A truck that's missing the part you needed. A dispatcher who overpromised the customer and left you to eat the fallout. An owner who's never made a roadside go/no-go call in his life telling you how to make yours.
Here's the truth: that's not a you problem. That's a shop problem.
And until you're somewhere that backs your judgment instead of second-guessing it, you'll always feel like you're giving more than you get back.
That's exactly why this shop exists.
We're a family-owned heavy-duty truck & trailer shop that's been keeping our region rolling for over 20 years. We're not run by some suit who's never had grease under his nails — we built this around 24/7 dispatch and fully-equipped service trucks because we know what it actually takes to restore a driver's uptime in the field, in the weather, under pressure.
Now we're growing, and we need one more experienced-to-master Mobile Diesel Road Service Technician who can own a roadside call start to finish — diagnose it, decide whether it's a safe field fix or an honest tow, repair it, document it clean, and represent us professionally to the driver while he's having the worst day of his week.
That's a different animal than a strong bay tech. It takes field judgment, systems breadth, and the kind of calm that keeps a frustrated fleet manager on your side. If that's you, keep reading.
HERE'S WHAT WE PROMISE OUR TECHS:
- Up to $3,000/week for the right tech — that's real money for real skill. Pay is hourly + after-hours/road-call premium with a guaranteed floor, so you're covered either way.
- A fully-stocked, well-organized service truck — top-tier diagnostic tools and parts staged so you're set up to fix it on the first trip instead of scrambling
- Health benefits package (50% employer-paid)
- 401(k)
- Life insurance policy
- Paid time off
- Paid holidays
- Paid training — on-the-job and off-site OEM/ASE training that makes you worth more in this industry
- Tuition reimbursement
- Relocation assistance for the right candidate
✓ WE'VE GOT YOUR BACK ON THE ROAD (REAL DISPATCH SUPPORT)
When you're on a call, you're not on an island. Our 24/7 dispatch stages your parts, gives you straight information, and doesn't hang you out to dry by overpromising a customer something you can't deliver. When a diagnosis or a part gets ugly, you've got the shop and the team behind you—not a voice on the phone telling you to figure it out.
✓ YOUR JUDGMENT IS RESPECTED (NO MICROMANAGERS)
You make the roadside go/no-go call. If a repair is safe and feasible in the field, you fix it. If it needs to come in, you make the honest tow call and nobody overrides you to chase a quick buck. We trust you to protect both the customer and the shop—that's the whole job, and we hire people who can do it without a babysitter.
✓ WE WILL KEEP YOU BUSY
We're a go-to roadside and shop service along a major interstate corridor, with steady, year-round work. Job security and plenty of calls so you can stay busy, do good work, and make good money—no slow seasons, no sitting around waiting to make money.
✓ YOU WILL LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERY DAY
Big rigs to medium-duty, farm and grain haulers, reefers, dump trucks, trailers—plus DPF cleaning, performance tuning, driveline and axle work, brakes, and more. We run Volvo, Peterbilt, Mack, Kenworth, Freightliner, Western Star, Hino, Isuzu, and Mitsubishi. You pick the brand, we've got it covered—and the variety keeps the work sharp.
✓ YOU WILL BE APPRECIATED (OPEN-DOOR, FAMILY-OWNED)
We're family-owned and operated, and the decision-makers are in the building—not hiding behind corporate email. Your voice matters here, your ideas get heard, and when something needs to change, you can actually make it happen.
✓ WE INVEST IN YOU (WE DON'T OFFER JOBS, WE OFFER CAREER PATHS)
We're big on growth. Whether your path is senior mobile tech, lead tech, field operations, or diagnostics specialist, share your vision with us and we'll help you build it. We hire good people who want to stick around—and we keep them.
✓ NO DRAMA
Life's too short for wrench-throwers and prima donnas. We don't tolerate them, so you won't have to either. Just good techs who back each other up and take pride in the work.
HERE'S HOW WE TREAT THE DRIVERS YOU'LL SERVE
This matters to you, because you're the one who has to face them. We've built our whole reputation on getting drivers back on the road fast, fair, and honest—no upsell games, no surprise bills, itemized estimates before any work begins. Drivers call us from out of state and come back for a reason. When the shop treats customers right, your job on the roadside gets a whole lot easier.
The kind of reputation drivers actually talk about: a blown trailer airbag called in at night and repaired the same evening. An honest second opinion that saved a customer from a needless replacement another shop tried to sell them. A disconnected air line found, fixed on the spot, and sent on its way at no charge. That's the standard you'll be holding up—and we make sure you've got what you need to hold it.
ABOUT THE SHOP
We're a family-owned, full-service heavy-duty truck & trailer shop that's served our region for over 20 years. We talk trucks. Fleet owners, dispatchers, and single drivers all call us—because we speak their language. From big rigs to medium-duty, farm and grain, reefers and dump trucks, we're a leader for roadside and in-the-shop service in our area.
We combine real hands-on experience with state-of-the-art equipment and ASE- and manufacturer-trained technicians to keep fleets—and businesses—moving. We're centrally located on a major interstate corridor with 24/7 emergency dispatch.
We're not trying to be the biggest shop around. We're focused on being the best one to work for.
(We're running this search confidentially for now — once we connect, we'll happily walk you through exactly who we are, where we're located, and what makes this shop different.)
WHAT WILL MAKE YOU SHINE IN THIS ROLE
- Several years of real medium/heavy-duty diesel experience — mobile, fleet, dealership, transit, equipment, or military maintenance backgrounds all count
- You can take a roadside call solo: diagnose it, decide field-fix vs. tow, repair it, test it, and send the driver on his way
- Strong diagnostics process — scan data, wiring diagrams, voltage drop, real root-cause work, not blind parts-swapping
- You know when not to attempt a roadside repair, and you make that call to protect the customer and the shop
- You stay calm and professional with frustrated drivers and fleet managers when the downtime clock is running
- You write clean, accurate notes that reduce comebacks and help the next tech
- Valid driver's license and an insurable driving record
- ASE, OEM, and EPA 609 credentials are welcome but not required unless the work scope triggers them
Now—if you need constant direction, dodge the tough calls, or turn every ambiguous symptom into a tow or a rebuild, this isn't your shop.
But if you're a self-sufficient mobile tech who takes pride in solving real problems in the field and wants a shop that backs your judgment and pays for your skill—we should talk.
SCHEDULE & ON-CALL — STRAIGHT TALK
This is a mobile roadside role, so let's be honest about it up front: it includes an on-call rotation and a set shift.
We pay an after-hours/road-call premium, we keep the rotation fair, and we don't run you into the ground. If you are normally scheduled for a shift that happens to be a holiday, you get that holiday pay, but you must work the day before and the day after unless previously scheduled and given permission.
During your interview, we will discuss your capability to work specific hours. Taking care of our customers is why we’re here but we always want to make sure that you have time for yourself and your family.
