Job Summary: The Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Journeyman operator does skilled work on various systems of HVAC equipment, heat pumps, thermostats, food service equipment, air-handling equipment, motors, drives, belts, mechanical, and other related devices. The HVAC Technician also performs repair/replacement duties on dampers, filters, low/high voltage electronics, and other equipment associated with heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems. The HVAC Technician also performs record keeping and data management to ensure compliance with various inspecting agencies. The work assists toward the accomplishment of the mission of the Woodland Public Schools of preparing students for career, life, and college so that they can become responsible and successful citizens. Work is performed under the direction of the Facilities and Safety Director.
Qualifications:

Ability to work around children and present a positive role model

High school diploma or equivalent

Must hold a valid HVAC Journey Level Certificate, a valid HVAC journey level card, or have 5 years' experience as an HVAC technician

Must have CFC "Universal" certification

Must have a valid Washington 06A Electrical License

Must have familiarity/experience with the following building control systems: Honeywell

Must have taken and passed an HVACR national technician certification program

Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification

Must be able to work independently with limited supervision

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Communicates effectively with staff and the general public in a manner that promotes positive customer service relationships.

Repairs/replaces HVAC equipment including but not limited to compressors, dryers, evaporators, piping, filters, drives (including variable speed), electrical sensors, relays, heating and cooling coils, fans, various heaters, thermostats, valves, actuators, dampers, controls, refrigeration chillers, ducting and other associated components.

Diagnoses and repairs electrical, mechanical, safety and other problems associated with HVAC systems.

Makes new installations when required.

Performs preventive maintenance on heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems throughout the District.

Performs all tasks in accordance with approved safety practices and in compliance with laws, regulations, and school district policies and procedures.

Maintains a current status on regulations and skill work pertaining to hazardous materials handling and disposal of items, including but not limited to CFC, compressors, and other regulated waste.

Assists other craftsmen in the performance of repairs as directed.

Reads with understanding the manufacturer's maintenance guides, schematics, and blueprints.

Accomplishes all necessary repairs, calibrations, adjustments, and diagnostic protocol, both internal and external, in order to maintain all systems and units in safe and efficient operating condition.

Oversees cleanliness of mechanical areas; ensures that materials are stored in an orderly manner.

Maintains all records required by federal, state, and local authorities requiring compliance with Stratospheric Ozone Protection (EPA Final Rule Summary.)

Maintains current certifications and registration of all refrigerant recovery equipment with the EPA.

Maintains current certifications through an EPA-approved testing organization for the purchase and handling of refrigerants.

Maintains all forms and documentation associated with refrigerant management, storage, and disbursement.
