Full Job Description

JOB TITLE: Program Assistant

REPORTS TO: Volunteer Services Manager

CLASSIFICATION: Full time - 40 hours/week - Hourly, Non-Exempt

BACKGROUND/MISSION:Northwest Neighbors Network creates neighborly connections, fosters engagement, and empowers seniors and adults with disabilities (“members”) to thrive in the place they call home. We achieve this mission by providing a community of dedicated NNN volunteers who help with a wide range of neighborly tasks such as transportation and household chores. In addition, NNN offers a rich array of social connections and educational opportunities. NNN envisions an intergenerational inclusive community where seniors are surrounded by a vibrant and caring network of neighbors, and where they feel a strong sense of belonging and contributing to their community.

NNN was incorporated as a 501(c) 3 non-profit in 2017. NNN serves residents of north King County and south Snohomish County – including the communities of Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, Edmonds, Woodway, Lynnwood, Brier and Mountlake Terrace. While operating as an independent nonprofit, NNN is an active member of the Village To Village Network association, connecting hundreds of virtual villages across the country, mostly led by volunteers who provide services in small, localized areas where neighbors can help neighbors.

NNN Program Description:

Our program is designed to exclusively meet the needs of seniors and adults with disabilities who are aging in place. Seniors are often at a disadvantage while navigating modern communities and trying to meet their basic needs. Our community of volunteers across two counties helps provide this crucial support as a safety net for this senior independence in their home of choice. At NNN, every ride, task or errand includes an interpersonal or social interaction with a trusted, background-checked volunteer. Volunteers provide the following services:

Transportation (grocery shopping, doctor appointments, errands)
Help at Home (light cleaning, help with garbage/mail, organizing)
Home support at the handy-person level & light gardening
Personal Support (social visits/ walking together)
Technology support (phones, apps, laptops, etc.)
Social Activities & Events

JOB SUMMARY: NNN is not just an organization that uses the help of volunteers, but rather we are an organization built on a foundation of volunteers that provide a variety of individual services to our members. As such, the Program Assistant position is responsible for connecting closely and interacting daily with a pool of dedicated volunteers to deliver quality services to support our members. This position emphasizes outreach, deep listening, connection, and superior communication skills that will result in engaged, enthusiastic members and volunteers.

The Program Assistant reports to the Volunteer Services Manager. This position is a full-time position, and overtime eligible (non-exempt). This is an In-Office work position, with required periodic in-person meetings, events or services management requirements. Only local candidates will be considered.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Match volunteers with service requests that fit their skills, interests, and time commitments.
Fill service requests for which no volunteers are available, particularly transportation to appointments
Match relevant volunteers with members for recurring service requests with a focus on relationship building Work a few 3-hour service coordination shifts each week as needed, responding to phone calls and emails and ensuring that the services requested by members are posted and filled by volunteers.
Perform basic administrative tasks, manage documentation and internal record-keeping within the services platform.
Provide project support to the Executive Director on occasion as needed.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on organizational needs by the Volunteer Services Manager.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

A passion for and experience working with older adults or vulnerable populations.
Well-organized, detail-oriented, outgoing, and self-starting
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Experience with customer service, communications and technology is highly desired.
Experience in a volunteer organization or experience in training, teaching, coaching, customer service or related activities is desired.
Proficiency and comfort learning and using a variety of computer programs and technology (Google Suite desired).
Commitment to equity and inclusion, and experience working with diverse communities.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

NNN is welcoming to individuals with physical and/or mental disabilities. The physical demands and essential functions described here are representative of those that must be met, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Prolonged periods of working on a computer.
Must have a car that can be used to transport members, for occasional direct service work and work at events in our service area.
Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and the position will be expected to perform their 40 hours of work within this time frame with some exceptions for off-hours events/organizational needs.
This is an In-Office work position, with required periodic in-person meetings, events or services management requirements. Only local candidates will be considered.

COMPENSATION:

The position is full time (40 hours/week) and is eligible for overtime. Hourly rate range is $22.00 to $25.00 (annual equivalent of $45,760 to $52,000) based on relevant experience. Benefits include two paid weeks of vacation per year; 10 paid holidays; sick leave; medical, dental, and vision benefits; life insurance; and retirement plan.
