Full Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to provide psychiatric services to children and adolescents in a behavioral health setting in North Carolina.

This is an excellent opportunity for a psychiatrist who is currently in private practice, working another clinical position, or looking for a flexible part-time opportunity while maintaining a meaningful role in the treatment of youth with complex behavioral health needs.

Schedule & Clinical Coverage

The psychiatrist will provide scheduled on-site psychiatric services one day per week.

The role also includes availability for clinical consultation, medication orders, and crisis-related support outside of the scheduled clinical day, consistent with the organization's coverage requirements.

Candidates should carefully consider the after-hours coverage expectations before applying.

Responsibilities

This is a perfect side gig for someone in a private practice
Visit patients one day a week in office
Must be available 24/7 to docusign orders and prescribe medications
Must be available 24/7 for crisis coverage
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations of children and adolescents.
Diagnose and treat psychiatric, behavioral, and emotional disorders.
Develop individualized treatment plans.
Evaluate and manage psychotropic medications.
Monitor medication effectiveness, safety, and side effects.
Assess suicide risk, self-harm risk, aggression, and other behavioral health concerns.
Provide clinical consultation regarding patients experiencing psychiatric crises.
Collaborate with therapists, nurses, case managers, social workers, and other members of the treatment team.
Participate in treatment planning and case reviews.
Provide family consultation and education when appropriate.
Coordinate care with schools, outpatient providers, primary-care providers, and community resources.
Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in the EHR.
Provide trauma-informed, evidence-based psychiatric care.
Participate in crisis intervention and clinical consultation as required

Clinical Population

Experience with children and adolescents experiencing complex behavioral health conditions is strongly preferred, including:

Depression
Anxiety
ADHD
PTSD and trauma-related disorders
Mood disorders
Behavioral dysregulation
Autism spectrum disorder
Substance-use disorders
Psychotic disorders
Suicidal ideation and self-harm
Co-occurring psychiatric conditions

Required Qualifications

MD or DO from an accredited medical school
Completion of an ACGME-accredited Psychiatry residency
Completion of an ACGME-accredited Child & Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
Active, unrestricted North Carolina medical license, or eligibility to obtain one
Current DEA registration, or eligibility to obtain one
Ability to obtain/maintain professional liability coverage
Experience evaluating and treating children and adolescents
Experience prescribing and managing psychiatric medications
Strong clinical judgment and documentation skills
