Manager on Duty (MOD)

Reports To: Operations & Security Manager
Status: Hourly
Pay Range: $18.00–$22.00 per hour

Position Summary

The Manager on Duty (MOD) serves as the operational leader for the assigned shift, ensuring Camp Margaritaville Auburndale operates safely, efficiently, and delivers exceptional guest experiences. Reporting to the Operations & Security Manager, the MOD serves as the on-shift representative of resort leadership by coordinating operations, mentoring Rangers and other department team members, supporting department leaders, and exercising sound judgment when operational decisions are required.

The MOD is entrusted with operational authority during assigned shifts. While not the direct supervisor of every team member on duty, the MOD is expected to provide leadership, direction, coaching, and coordination necessary to keep the resort operating safely, consistently, and in alignment with established standards.

Supports Camp Margaritaville's Every Guest. Every Time. philosophy by creating positive, memorable experiences through every interaction, every responsibility, and every decision.

Operational Leadership

· Serve as the operational leader for assigned shifts, representing the Operations & Security Manager and General Manager when they are not on site.

· Coordinate resort operations and prioritize resources based on guest needs and operational demands.

· Exercise sound judgment and make timely decisions within established authority.

· Balance guest satisfaction, operational efficiency, team member support, and resort policies when making operational decisions.

· Maintain situational awareness throughout the resort and proactively address issues before they impact guests.

· Escalate significant operational, safety, personnel, or guest issues when appropriate.

Guest Experience

· Lead guest recovery efforts and resolve concerns with professionalism and empathy.

· Maintain a highly visible presence throughout the resort.

· Support special events, programming, and high occupancy weekends.

· Ensure resort standards are consistently delivered across guest-facing areas.

Leadership & Team Development

· Serve as a coach, mentor, and operational resource for Rangers, Pool Attendants, Gate Attendants, and other hourly team members.

· Provide operational direction, coaching, and real-time decision support during assigned shifts while respecting each department's reporting structure and empowering team members to solve problems confidently.

· Reinforce standards, SOPs, safety expectations, and guest service philosophy.

· Recognize outstanding performance and provide timely coaching.

Safety & Emergency Response

· Coordinate emergency response activities until relieved by senior leadership or emergency responders.

· Ensure compliance with weather, emergency, and resort safety procedures.

· Create incident reports and review reports completed by other team members for accuracy, completeness, objectivity, and proper documentation before submission.

· Ensure timely communication, guest follow-up, and appropriate recovery for significant guest, safety, security, and operational incidents, including post-incident contact with injured guests when appropriate.

· Monitor resort conditions and coordinate responses to safety and maintenance concerns.

Cross-Department Coordination

· Facilitate communication and collaboration between departments to ensure seamless resort operations and exceptional guest experiences.

· Remove operational barriers that prevent departments from delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Continuous Improvement

· Identify opportunities to improve guest satisfaction, safety, operational efficiency, and team performance.

· Recommend process improvements and support implementation of approved initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

· Leadership experience in hospitality, resorts, recreation, guest services, security, or similar operations preferred.

· Demonstrated ability to influence, coach, and lead without relying solely on positional authority.

· Strong communication, conflict resolution, organization, and decision-making skills.

· Exercise sound judgment and confidently make routine operational decisions within established policies, seeking leadership guidance whenever situations exceed assigned authority.

· Equivalent combinations of experience, character, attitude, and willingness to learn will be considered.
