Full Job Description

Position Title: Activity Leader

Employee Type: Seasonal, 22 hours per week

Schedule: Monday through Friday, generally from 1:00pm -6:00pm.

Pay: $32.00

Location: Presidio Middle School

JOB DUTIES:

DIRECT SERVICE (85%)

Lead daily academic and enrichment
Lead field trips, off campus activities, and cross-site collaborations
Provides daily direction, in the moment feedback, work, build, and maintain positive rapport with all students
Ensure active supervision of students during all program activities
De-escalate conflicts between students
Responsible for keeping used areas clean and organized

ADMINISTRATIVE (15%)

Write detailed lesson plans aligned with overall learning objectives
Responsible for completing and submitting detailed supply requests
Submit monthly reports covering academic, enrichment, recreational, and other activities
Responsible for completing incident reports
Complete and send daily attendance
Actively attend and engage in weekly staff meetings and ongoing training sessions,
Assumes additional responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

Must meet SFUSD Instructional Aide Requirements: An Associate’s degree or higher OR Official transcripts reflecting 48 college units and a high school diploma/equivalent OR Completion of CBEST and a high school diploma/equivalent OR passing the SFUSD Instructional Aide exam

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Minimum one year experience with middle school youth, preferably in an afterschool program setting
A diverse experience with various hobbies, activities, and interests, especially in the areas of STEM/STEAM and art
Certified in First Aid/CPR (Preferred)
Experience with Restorative Practices (Preferred)

PHYSICAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Typical Working Conditions: School classroom-type environment.

Equipment Used:Computer, telephone, printer,

Essential Physical Tasks: This job requires

Ability to stand, walk, and remain on your feet for extended periods of up to 6 or more hours, including on uneven or slippery surfaces
Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Ability to climb stairs and navigate public transportation, including buses and BART
Lead and actively participate in physical activities, games, and sports with campers
Maintain visual supervision of a group of participants at all times
React swiftly to prevent injury or respond to an incident
Frequently lift, push, and pull objects under 10 lbs, with occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs
Frequently walk and sit for periods of time throughout the workday, with occasional reaching
Regularly use a computer, including extended keyboard use requiring repetitive hand and finger motion and dexterity

Requirements for All Staff:

DOJ Live Scan Fingerprinting: All employees who have contact with youth under the age of 18 must be fingerprinted under procedures established by the DOJ. We cannot employ any individual who has been convicted of a serious or violent felony, as defined by the California Penal Code. The organization also receives updated information from the DOJ during employment. Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records on a case by case basis.
TB Test: Every employee who has regular contact with youth is required to have a current tuberculin skin test or an X-ray examination of the lungs (with a negative result) prior to reporting for duty.
Employment Authorization: Employees must be able to prove that they are authorized to work in the United States using any of the documentation allowed according to current I-9 processes.
