System-wide Conservatory Director Job Description

Pinecrest Academy of Nevada is a public charter school located in Henderson and Las Vegas communities, serving students in grades K-12 from six Pinecrest campuses. The Pinecrest Conservatory consists of students in grades 5-12 at multiple campuses.

The System-wide Conservatory Director shall collaborate across the Pinecrest charter school system through each campus’ principal and campus Conservatory staff. The System-Wide Conservatory Director will maintain the highest standard of excellence across all band, orchestra, and choral programs. They will provide dynamic leadership and strategic vision for all Conservatory programs across the Pinecrest Academy of Nevada charter school system. They will be responsible for collaborating with school principals and conservatory staff to support developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive music programs that promote student engagement, musical development, and positive sportsmanship, aligning with the charter system's mission and educational goals. The Conservatory Director fosters collaboration across campuses, supports music educators system-wide, and advances a cohesive music experience that promotes student growth, performance achievement, and artistic innovation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Fine Arts, Arts Administration, or related field; Master’s degree or higher preferred.
Proven experience in K-12 music education, including ensemble leadership in band, orchestra, or choir.
Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional alignment, and performance assessment in music education.
A valid teaching credential is required with the minimum of a substitute license.
Experience participating in various ensembles, choirs, adjudication, and being an active member of one or more national associations.
Strong leadership, management, and organizational skills.
Experience organizing large-scale musical performances, festivals, auditions, and events.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to manage budgets, plan system-wide programming, and implement multi-campus initiatives as they relate to the Conservatory.
Experience with strategic planning, program development, and evaluation.
Proficiency in using technology for scheduling, communication, data tracking, and administrative tasks.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and to travel between campuses as needed for events, competitions, and related activities.
Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate with students, staff, and community partners through effective leadership, marketing, and program development.
Skilled in crisis prevention and response, maintaining a safe and supportive environment for students, staff, and spectators.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The System-wide Conservatory Director shall collaborate across the Pinecrest K-12 charter school system through each campus’ principal and campus Conservatory staff to:

Strategic Leadership & Vision

The Conservatory Director sets the strategic direction for music education within the conservatory, ensuring alignment with its mission and goals. The Conservatory Director’s leadership fosters a unified approach to music education.
Ensure fidelity to the Conservatory Instructional Model and vertically aligned curriculum (Grades 5–12)
Establish and maintain system-wide goals, success metrics, and performance expectations for all K–12 music programs.

Program Development & Alignment

Provide professional development opportunities for music education staﬀ.
Support curricular consistency in band, orchestra, and choir programs, including program guidelines, assessment practices, and performance expectations.
Support campus administrators in evaluating music educators using Conservatory-aligned standards as defined by the Conservatory Instructional Model.

Operational Oversight

Collaborate with conservatory staff and campus principals to support system-wide music programming, including festivals, concerts, competitions, MPA preparation, Solo & Ensemble, Honor Ensemble, and All-State participation.
Collaborate with principals and performing arts staff to ensure appropriate scheduling, facilities use, transportation, and event operations.
Communicate program needs and resource requests to the Conservatory Board.
Assist each campus in acquiring musical instruments and resources.

Student Achievement & Program Quality

Ensure performance excellence through adherence to standards-based assessments, including sight-reading, rhythm literacy, scales/rudiments benchmarks, and ensemble evaluations.
Maintain consistent expectations for student and parent engagement in Conservatory programming.

Collaboration & Governance

Serve as the primary liaison among music educators, campus administrators, and the Conservatory Board.
Facilitate quarterly Conservatory Board meetings; prepare agendas and documentation in advance.

Full-time, 11-month position.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
