CDL Instructor (Class A)

Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: $25.00/ hr

What You'll Do

Teach students the skills necessary to safely operate Class A and Class B commercial vehicles.
Instruct students on pre-trip inspections, in-cab inspections, vehicle control, backing maneuvers, and safe driving techniques.
Prepare students for the Utah CDL skills examination through hands-on instruction and coaching.
Provide constructive feedback that builds student confidence and develops safe driving habits.
Communicate with students by phone and text to coordinate training sessions, answer questions, and support their progress.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and training hours.
Conduct routine inspections of training vehicles and report maintenance concerns.
Assist with fueling, staging, and positioning training vehicles as needed.
Ensure all instruction is delivered in accordance with company policies and applicable safety regulations.
Foster a positive, professional learning environment where students feel supported, challenged, and encouraged to succeed.
Represent CDL Driving Academy with professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to exceptional customer service.

Minimum Qualifications

Valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL).
Clean driving record.
Minimum of two years of Class A driving experience.
High school diploma or GED.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to climb in and out of commercial vehicles throughout the day.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous CDL instructor, trainer, or driver mentor experience.
Experience teaching or coaching adults.
Passenger endorsement.
No manual transmission restriction.
Bilingual (Spanish preferred but not required).
Experience using technology for scheduling, texting, or maintaining student records.
