BMT Aerospace is a well-established and growing aerospace manufacturing machining company seeking experienced CNC Lathe Machinist with Knowledge of Haas Controls and Fanuc/ Dixie . Our clean and air conditioned facility is located in Fraser, Michigan.

The hourly range will depend on experience.

Job Description:

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Lathe Machinist who can independently set up, adjust, and operate CNC lathes to produce high-quality precision components. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, quality-focused, and experienced in working with tight tolerances in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Perform complete setup, adjustment, and operation of CNC lathes for parts ranging from simple to complex.
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and setup sheets to determine tooling, fixtures, feeds, speeds, and machining sequence.
Utilize precision measuring instruments (micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, height gauges) to ensure parts meet specifications.
Conduct in-process and final inspections to maintain product quality.
Monitor tool performance and machine operation; replace tooling and make offset adjustments to maintain accuracy.
Edit, troubleshoot, and optimize CNC programs (G/M code) as needed.
Perform routine preventative maintenance.
Maintain a clean and organized work area aligned with safety standards.
Meet or exceed production goals and deadlines.
Collaborate with teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Cross-train on multiple machines as needed.
Follow company policies and safety regulations.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

4–5+ years of CNC machining experience (lathe focus).
Strong proficiency in full machine setup and operation.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and job orders.
Understanding of machining principles, feeds & speeds, and cutting tools.
Knowledge of GD&T.
Experience with Fanuc (Oi, 21i), Haas, and Okuma controls preferred.
Familiarity with program editing and troubleshooting.
Strong attention to detail and quality.
Ability to work independently.
Willingness to work overtime as needed.
