Travel RN – CVOR – Colorado

Must have:

Minimum experience: 3 years of recent CVOR experience required

License: Colorado or compact state license required

Certifications: BLS and ACLS required; CNOR preferred

Length of Assignment: 12 weeks with possibility of extension

Start Date: 8/31/2026

Shift: Days – 40 hours per week (4x10s) (Must be willing and able to flex to general operating room)

$3200 weekly

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Travel Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) procedures to join our dynamic healthcare team in. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide expert perioperative care to cardiac patients in a fast-paced, state-of-the-art surgical environment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in cardiac surgery, critical care, and advanced nursing practices, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through comprehensive assessment, precise intervention, and compassionate support. As a Travel RN – CVOR, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality care across diverse patient populations while adhering to strict safety and procedural standards.

Responsibilities

Provide specialized perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing cardiovascular surgeries within the CVOR setting, including preoperative assessments and postoperative recovery.
Assist surgical teams during complex cardiac procedures such as catheterizations, valve repairs, and bypass surgeries, ensuring aseptic technique and sterile field maintenance.
Monitor vital signs, interpret physiology data, and manage ventilators, IV infusions, and advanced medical equipment during surgical interventions.
Administer medications with precision, including anesthesia agents, botulinum toxin treatments when applicable, and pain management protocols tailored to individual patient needs.
Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including anesthesiologists, surgeons, and critical care specialists—to coordinate seamless patient care transitions.
Respond swiftly to emergent situations such as trauma cases or acute cardiac events by implementing critical response procedures and advanced life support techniques.
Ensure infection control standards are rigorously followed through proper aseptic techniques and sterilization processes.
Educate patients and their families about perioperative procedures, recovery expectations, and post-discharge care plans.
Support quality improvement initiatives by participating in case reviews, data collection, and adherence to NCQA standards.

Experience

Proven experience as a Registered Nurse working within a Level I or Level II trauma center or equivalent high-acuity hospital environment.
Extensive background in cardiovascular surgery settings, including OR experience with cardiac catheterization procedures.
Critical care experience in ICU or PICU units with familiarity in ventilator management, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), laboratory experience, and diagnostic evaluation.
Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate medical documentation and patient record management.
Knowledge of advanced nursing practices including aseptic technique, suturing skills, specimen collection/processing, and infection control protocols.
Experience working with diverse patient populations across outpatient clinics, inpatient units, emergency rooms, and home care settings.
Familiarity with medical imaging modalities like sonography or mammography is advantageous but not mandatory.
Strong understanding of physiology knowledge related to cardiovascular health, trauma medicine, infectious disease care, geriatrics, pediatrics (including neonatal resuscitation procedures), and behavioral health considerations.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or equivalent is required; additional certifications such as Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) are preferred.
