Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Medical Assistant Instructor/Program Chair is responsible for providing leadership, oversight, and instruction for the Medical Assistant program. This position is accountable for ensuring the program operates in compliance with institutional accreditation standards, state regulations, and College policies while promoting student success and instructional excellence.

The Instructor/Program Chair provides classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction; supervises and mentors faculty; assists with curriculum development; monitors program outcomes; and collaborates with campus leadership to ensure the overall quality and effectiveness of the Medical Assistant program.

RESPONSIBILIITES:

Oversees all aspects of the Medical Assistant program across assigned campuses, including program organization, administration, planning, implementation, and continuous quality improvement.
Ensures the Medical Assistant program operates in compliance with institutional accreditation standards, state regulations, and College policies and procedures.
Interviews, screens, and participates in the selection of Medical Assistant instructor applicants.
Orients, mentors, and supports newly hired Medical Assistant instructors.
Evaluates instructor performance through classroom observations, student feedback, meetings, and individual coaching.
Provides leadership, guidance, and support to Medical Assistant faculty regarding instructional and administrative matters.
Conducts regular faculty meetings and promotes consistency in instructional delivery across all campuses.
Collaborates with Campus Directors, Education, Admissions, Financial Aid, Career Services, and the Registrar to support student success and program effectiveness.
Reviews, evaluates, and recommends revisions to curriculum, instructional materials, laboratory equipment, textbooks, and educational resources to ensure alignment with current industry standards.
Assists with the development and implementation of new curriculum, instructional strategies, and educational initiatives.
Monitors program outcomes, student retention, completion, licensure or certification outcomes (if applicable), and graduate success to support continuous improvement.
Advises and mentors students regarding academic progress, professionalism, and program expectations.
Assists faculty with student concerns, academic interventions, and retention strategies.
Ensures instructors maintain accurate and timely attendance, grades, student progress reports, and other required academic documentation.
Ensures faculty adhere to College policies, educational procedures, and learning management system expectations.
Participates in institutional accreditation activities, program reviews, audits, and compliance initiatives.
Assists with student orientations, faculty onboarding, Advisory Committee meetings, graduation activities, and other College events.
Maintains professional competence through continuing education and ongoing professional development.
Teaches assigned Medical Assistant theory, laboratory, and clinical courses utilizing the approved curriculum and instructional methodologies.
Creates and maintains an engaging, professional, and student-centered learning environment.
Evaluates student learning through written examinations, laboratory competencies, clinical evaluations, and other approved assessment methods.
Maintains accurate student records and documentation in accordance with institutional policies.
Performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Thorough knowledge of Medical Assistant education, industry standards, and scope of practice.
Knowledge of institutional accreditation standards and applicable state regulations.
Demonstrated leadership, coaching, mentoring, and faculty development skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to teach from a standardized curriculum.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and learning management systems.
Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings and occasional weekends, as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Current Medical Assistant certification required.
Minimum of three (3) years of full-time clinical experience as a Medical Assistant.
Previous teaching experience in a postsecondary or vocational education setting preferred.
Minimum of an Associate Degree
Previous leadership, supervisory, or faculty mentoring experience preferred.
