Job Title: Senior Product Development Engineer

Reports To: Executive Director of Product Innovation

Exempt/Non-Exempt: Exempt

Vaupell designs, engineers, and produces custom, high performance engineered plastic and composite components and assemblies for demanding applications. We are the global market leader in plastic components and assemblies for aircraft interiors while also serving the broader aerospace, defense and medical device & diagnostic markets. Vaupell provides engineered solutions to top tier OEM’s, market-leading growth companies, and promising start-ups. Collaboration with our customers in all phases of the product life cycle results in the highest value solutions that reduce time to market, manage risk and control costs.

Position Purpose:

As a Senior Product Development Engineer, you will be responsible for the complete product life cycle of products for the Aerospace and Defense Industries. Vaupell is looking for a person that will embody the key pillars of the Product Innovation Group: Sustainability, Efficiency and Innovation; to create a “leap” in value of products for our customers. The Senior Product Development Engineer is a key role in the design and development process of products that will redefine the future of the aerospace industry. Aerospace interiors experience required

Responsibilities:

Develops, integrates, and documents design requirements to establish part/system design.
Designs, analyzes and maintains component and system designs, using CAD tools and/or other design methods, throughout the product lifecycle.
Applies design/analysis processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.
Performs feasibility (prototype), functional and qualification testing for component and / or system designs.
Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
Transforms initial rough product designs using computer aided design (CAD) into working models and documents.
Lead technical reviews including drawing and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards.
Designs new products proprietary to Vaupell.

Job Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline required
7+ years’ experience as a Product Development Engineer or similar role
Aerospace interiors experience required
Preferred Floor to Floor aerospace cabin design experience
Experience managing complete product life cycle from SOW creation through project gate reviews, qualification (DO-160), FAA certification and delivery of product.
Knowledge of CATIA or similar CAD software required

Travel up to 15% may be required.

Noise levels in the work environment are typically moderate and may occasionally be loud.
