Position Description: Instructor

Job Title: Instructor

Department: Academic

Reports To: Education Director

Professional Objective:

Each Instructor member plays a significant role as a team member of the education department and the LINSHI staff in general. The team effort is important in the overall delivery of quality education and student services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Classroom Management

Keeps classes in session for full scheduled hours.
Takes accurate attendance every day and advises students of attendance problems before they develop into large problems.
Provides students with a full understanding of module and daily objectives (syllabi, materials, etc.) and expectations at beginning of each session.
Has full awareness of class and individual student status and progress daily.
Provides Education Director with regular input relative to class and student progress and/or problems.
Maintains consistent performance relative to grading, documentation, policies, discipline, etc.
Ensures that all course material and objectives are presented according to the curricula outlines.
Establishes mutual student/faculty respect and good class rapport.
Submits grades in a timely fashion or as otherwise requested.
Returns student quizzes, exams, projects, etc., in a timely fashion.
Reviews progress with students regularly well in advance of the end of each module.
Presents self as a professional role model for students.
Inspires student confidence in the school, the faculty, and self.
Counsels students immediately upon determination of a problem with grades, attendance, and professional attitude.

Lecture

Prepares organized, clear, and concise lesson plans consistent with curriculum outlines.
Ensures productive use of workshops, seminars, and independent study.
Holds student interest and inspires student understanding and progress.
Presents course outlines and student progress in a timely fashion.
Provides additional lectures and reviews as necessary.
Provides appropriate and well-prepared course-related materials.
Utilizes audiovisual equipment to facilitate learning.

Laboratory

Provides projects and assignments consistent with course outlines, objectives, lectures, and student needs.
Ensures that time is spent productively by students working on appropriate assignments.
Inspires student self-discipline, problem-solving, and productivity.
Provides an opportunity for individual and group attention.
Makes additional assignments, projects, and tests as student progress dictate.
Informs Education Director of any need to deviate from curriculum schedule.

Non-classroom Assignments

Participates in curriculum development when called upon by the Education Director.
Covers classes of absent instructors when assigned.
Tutors after class when required.

Professional Responsibilities:

Maintains “state of the art” knowledge in the field of expertise.
Initiates self-participation in in-house staff development.
Attends outside seminars and other programs in the field.
Shares course materials and insights with other faculty members.
Makes recommendations for additions to, or upgrading of, course materials and textbooks.
Attends all required courses for continued licensure.

Qualifications:

The Instructor must have the following qualifications:

Licensed by the State Education Department.
Minimum of two years of professional, practical experience in the field of teaching or baccalaureate degree from a recognized institution of higher learning.
Technical expertise in the programs offered by LINSHI.
Knowledge and understanding of the professional career paths and demands of the Beauty and Wellness field for which he or she provides training.
Motivation and enthusiasm for teaching.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
