Job Summary

Job Description * Laurel Heights Hospital located in Atlanta Georgia has a NURSE MANAGER (Full-time) opportunity. Laurel Heights Hospital is an intensive Residential Treatment/Acute and Autism Spectrum Disorders Program for children and adolescents.We serve and treat severe and complex psychiatric and behavioral difficulties and co-occurring psychiatric issues.

We provide a caring, therapeutic setting with various therapeutic modalities and applied behavior analysis services. EOE.Job Requirements

The Nurse Manager is a managerial position accountable to the Director of Nursing/ Director of Clinical Services for the implementation or nursing practice policies and the maintenance of standards of practice necessary for quality patient care in the facility. Education: A Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree will be considered if experience level or continuing education produces knowledge and skills equivalent to that of a Master’s prepared nurse. Licensure/Certification: Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia. Valid state drivers license with appropriate endorsement. Experience: Four years employment as a RN in a psychiatric setting in positions of progressive responsibility. This should include supervisory and/or administrative role. Supervision Exercised: Assigned Nursing Staff and Residential Instructors/Mental Health Assistant.

Knowledge: Interact appropriately with all populations served; oral and written communication skills; knowledge and mastery of DSMV, and biopsychosocial assessment. Demonstrates competence to participate in interdisciplinary formulation of individual treatment plans, to give skilled nursing care and to direct, monitor and evaluate the nursing care furnished. Demonstrates sound leadership skills and utilizes these skills in organizing and delegating the activities and schedules for medical and/or non-medical tasks of the child and adolescent.

The Nurse Manager prescribes, coordinates and delegates nursing care utilizing the nursing process that is integrated into the multidisciplinary treatment team’s plan of care. Nurse Manager has a record of consistent high quality clinical and interpersonal skills, must be able to foster relationship building with staff and peers.

Must possess critical thinking skills and sound independent decision-making in the execution of nursing strategies, provision of care as ordered, and able to effective evaluate the patient’s progress in meeting the goals of the treatment plan. The Nurse Manager serves as an exemplary role model for others. The Nurse Manager performs comprehensive nursing assessments, establishes nursing diagnosis and goals, plans, implements, and evaluates the nursing care provided.

Nurse Manager must demonstrate specialized knowledge of treatment procedures and interventions common to acute psychotic, as well as, non-violent crises intervention practice. Nurse Manager is able to maintain a record of consistent high quality clinical and interpersonal skills to serve as a role model for others.

Nurse Manager has skills in establishing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with a variety of clinical and support team members. Possesses knowledge of abnormal psychology as typically found in the child and adolescent psychiatric populations in the application of the nursing care. Displays empathy for patients and their families and provides advocacy for the patient. RN is knowledgeable of medical terminology, especially those terms associated with child and adolescent behavioral issues. ASD Nurse Manager has a thorough understanding of psychopharmacology and the use of psychotropic medications to treat the symptoms and management of the patient’s psychiatric and medical needs. Provides individualized Plan of Care based on the needs of the patient.

Nurse Manager possesses problem-solving skills; organizational and time management; crisis intervention skills; written and oral communication skills; and skills in maintaining highly confidential information.

Nurse Manager is skilled in facilitating and/or co-facilitating process orientation and didactic groups. Nurse Manager maintains a current CPR certification and documented training in the Mindset curriculum and is flexible regarding hours and work schedule. In the absence of these qualifications upon hire, must demonstrate ability to learn these concepts and develop these skills within reasonable time frame via the organization’s orientation and training program.
