The McCloud Group (TMG) is a Construction Management (CM) firm founded in 2002, specializing in the construction and renovation of K-12 educational, college university, municipal, cultural, residential, and healthcare construction projects for public sector governmental agencies. TMG serves as the owner’s representative and advocates, through all phases of a project and under a variety of delivery methods. Over the past 24 years, TMG has built a strong reputation for quality through a proven track record of hundreds of successful K-12 educational, college university, municipal, cultural, residential, and healthcare construction and renovation project portfolio that includes work in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania.

Job description:

TMG delivers comprehensive construction management services for a wide range of New York City School Construction Authority (NYCSCA) projects throughout all five boroughs. NYCSCA is one of TMG’s most prominent and valued clients, and the firm’s continued partnership with the Authority is central to its operational excellence and industry reputation. These projects require swift mobilization of skilled personnel, trade labor, and specialty contractors, along with efficient procurement of critical materials and equipment. TMG’s work directly supports the remediation and stabilization of unsafe or hazardous conditions within public schools, reinforcing the safety, functionality, and continuity of educational environments citywide.

As Director of Construction at The McCloud Group, you will oversee the successful start‑up, management, and delivery of all construction projects and construction management services, with a primary focus on NYCSCA assignments. This role ensures that project timelines are met, cost objectives are aligned, and all work adheres to the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. The Director of Construction is responsible for optimizing resources, strengthening vendor and subcontractor relationships, driving process improvements, and enhancing both internal team performance and client satisfaction. This leadership position plays a critical role in supporting TMG’s continued success and its long‑standing partnership with NYCSCA.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Responsible for project initiation; including requirements gathering, scope definition, creation of budget and schedule, staffing, and strict reviewal/implementation of construction management contracts
Day-to-day oversight of multiple construction projects and project teams throughout the Northeast Region
Identify, monitor, and manage project issues and risks; mitigate and resolve these risks/issues in a timely manner
Visit each job site regularly and attend the contractor progress meetings as required in order to have working knowledge of current project status and issues
Attend all regular Owner’s meetings for entire pipeline of projects
Review all budgets, schedule updates, and change orders before submission to the client
Assist the Project Managers and Superintendents with overall field operations and project delivery
Provide required coverage for Project Managers and Superintendents on their sites when project coverage is necessary
Work with the accounting department to resolve all invoice and payment issues; this can include reviewing and approving all hourly time sheets
Contribute to process improvements and project management best practices
Ensure that all clients and employees are given the resources needed to achieve successful project delivery
Ability to travel to projects in Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania
Work closely with the human resources department and in-house recruitment team in reviewing and selecting prospective employees
Sit-in on interviews with prospective employees
Assist in-house recruitment team in identifying key vacancies and developing hiring strategies
Meet with clients to further understand their project management needs for current or future project pipeline
Direct office management in developing and implementing key human resources policies for the company
Provide technical write-ups and attend pre-bid meetings and walk throughs
Collaborate closely with the Marketing team to develop presentations for both short-listed RFPs and for business development purposes
Meet with current and prospective clients to identify new business opportunities and areas in which the company could broaden and expand services
Develop and streamline a key database of project management and administrative subconsultants that will support company's current and future project delivery needs

Qualifications and Skills:

Baccalaureate degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited college or university; an advanced degree (Master’s) is preferred.
Minimum of ten (10) years of diverse, full‑time technical experience in construction or design, including at least five (5) years managing all phases of construction on projects of comparable scale and complexity.
At least six (6) years in a supervisory or managerial capacity, leading teams, subcontractors, and multi‑disciplinary project stakeholders.
Extensive experience overseeing end‑to‑end construction project delivery, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, execution, and closeout.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while achieving technical, cost, and schedule objectives.
Proven capability to interpret, analyze, and administer complex construction management contracts, technical documents, and regulatory requirements.
Exceptional leadership and team‑building skills, with the ability to mentor staff, manage trade labor, and coordinate specialty contractors.
Strong client‑relationship and stakeholder‑management skills, with a track record of building trust and delivering high‑quality service to owners, architects, engineers, and public‑sector partners.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with a professional, solutions‑oriented, and collaborative presentation style.
Demonstrated ability to make informed, timely decisions under pressure and maintain project momentum in fast‑paced environments.
Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) licensure, or candidacy toward licensure, is highly desirable
