Estimator – Substation / Power Infrastructure

Location: In-person for offices in either Harrisburg, PA, Syracuse, NY, or Neenah, WI

Type: Full-time

Overview:
We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading North American infrastructure contractor, for a Substation Estimator to support medium-to-high-voltage power delivery projects. This role sits within a growing electrical infrastructure division focused on transmission, distribution, and grid modernization.

The position plays a key role in developing accurate and competitive bids for substation construction projects, working closely with internal stakeholders, subcontractors, and clients to support successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Review bid specifications, engineering drawings, and project documentation to develop detailed cost estimates.
Interpret complex substation project requirements, including new builds, upgrades, and expansion works.
Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing and validate scope assumptions.
Collaborate with project management and operations teams to refine budgets, methodologies, and execution strategies.
Participate in bid reviews, internal commercial discussions, and client-facing meetings where required.
Support negotiations and respond to client queries throughout the bidding process.
Ensure all estimates are accurate, competitive, and aligned with project delivery strategies.

Ideal Background & Experience:

5–8 years of experience in estimating or project management roles within infrastructure or power delivery environments.
Strong background in substation construction, utility infrastructure, or electrical projects.
Experience working within contractor or EPC environments is highly desirable.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and complex project documentation.
Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with estimating tools and construction documentation processes.

Strong problem-solving capability and commercial awareness.
Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with subcontractors, clients, and internal stakeholders.

Self-motivated with a long-term mindset and interest in career progression within infrastructure delivery.
