Full Job Description

Aerospace Operations Supervisor – CNC Machining, 2nd Shift

Description

We are seeking a hands-on Aerospace Operations Supervisor for the 2nd shift to lead CNC machining operations while also operating CNC lathes, milling machines, and turning equipment as needed. This role supervises approximately 12 machinists and is responsible for maintaining production flow, quality, safety, and schedule performance in a high-precision aerospace and defense manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities & Duties

Lead 2nd shift CNC machining operations, including workflow, priorities, and team performance.
Operate CNC lathes, milling machines, and turning equipment to support production, coverage, and troubleshooting needs.
Supervise, coach, and support approximately 12 machinists to meet safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals.
Provide hands-on technical guidance for setup, tooling, offsets, fixtures, program adjustments, and machining best practices.
Coordinate with engineering, quality, planning, and maintenance to resolve production issues and improve workflow.
Ensure compliance with safety requirements, company standards, AS9100, ITAR, and DOD/MIL requirements.
Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, quality, uptime, and throughput.

Qualifications & Skills

5–8 years of operations or manufacturing experience, preferably in aerospace and defense.
Required hands-on CNC machinist experience operating CNC lathes, milling machines, and turning equipment.
Experience supervising machinists or production employees, preferably on an off-shift.
Strong knowledge of CNC setup, tooling, offsets, fixtures, feeds and speeds, blueprint reading, GD&T, and precision measurement.
Knowledge of AS9100, ITAR, DOD/MIL requirements, safety practices, and manufacturing compliance standards.
Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, process improvement, ERP systems, and operational software preferred.
Strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and team leadership skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field desired; equivalent experience considered

Additional Details

Schedule: 2nd Shift
Typical Hours: Approximately 2:00/3:00 PM – 10:30/11:30 PM
Team Size: Approximately 15 employees
Compensation Range: $45-55/hour plus 20% differential
Reporting Structure: Reports to the Director of Operations
