Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic PRN Kitchen Server / Prep Cook to join our team! In this vital role, you will support the dietary department by preparing and serving nutritious meals while ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our residents. This position offers flexible hours and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve. Your enthusiasm, attention to detail, and commitment to food safety will help create a positive dining experience for our residents and guests.

Responsibilities

Assist with food preparation, including chopping, assembling, and portioning ingredients according to dietary guidelines and menus
Serve meals to residents in a friendly and professional manner, adhering to proper serving protocols
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas by sanitizing surfaces, washing dishes, and managing waste disposal
Follow all food safety standards and sanitation procedures in compliance with JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) regulations
Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, mixers, and other culinary tools
Support the dietary team with bussing tables, cleaning utensils, and ensuring a tidy dining environment
Adhere to dietary requirements for residents with special needs or restrictions, ensuring proper handling and presentation of food

Skills

Previous experience in assisted living, nursing homes, hospitals, or food industry settings is highly preferred
Strong knowledge of food production, preparation, and service techniques
Familiarity with kitchen equipment operation and sanitation standards
Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work with geriatric patients and understand their specific dietary needs
Knowledge of safe manual handling practices and heavy lifting techniques
Commitment to workplace safety protocols including PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) use and food handling standards
Basic math skills for portioning, measuring ingredients, and maintaining accurate records
Exceptional customer service skills with a friendly attitude toward residents and team members
CPR certification is a plus; willingness to obtain if not already certified
