Our Chandler operation includes thermoplastic and liquid silicone rubber molding, automated and manual assembly, laser marking, testing, tooling, and ISO 8 cleanroom manufacturing.
We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Operations Manager to take ownership of a critical, high-volume medical-device production cell operating across multiple shifts. This role provides the opportunity to lead a clearly defined operation, build a strong record of results, and potentially grow into broader site operations leadership.
Position Summary
The Manufacturing Operations Manager will be accountable for the day-to-day performance of a dedicated medical-device manufacturing cell that includes molding, automated and manual assembly, laser marking, leak testing, inspection, and packaging.
This person will coordinate production across all shifts and bring together Production, Processing, Quality, Automation, Tooling, Maintenance, Planning, Materials, and Engineering to keep the operation stable and meet customer commitments.
This is not a desk-only management position. The successful candidate will spend substantial time on the production floor, verify actual conditions, coach employees, respond to problems, and follow issues through to permanent resolution. The position reports to the General Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full operational ownership of the assigned medical-device production cell across first, second, and third shifts, including planned weekend production.
- Ensure daily and weekly production requirements are achieved safely and in accordance with quality, documentation, and customer requirements.
- Translate the production schedule into clear priorities and establish effective shift handoffs across all functions.
- Lead daily cell-performance reviews and communicate results, constraints, recovery plans, owners, and due dates.
- Track and improve safety, schedule attainment, output, first-pass yield, scrap, labor efficiency, downtime, OEE, and on-time delivery while ensuring reporting is accurate.
- Maintain appropriate staffing and technical coverage based on the production schedule and workload.
- Coach and develop supervisors, technicians, leads, and operators while holding the team accountable for standards and results.
- Coordinate rapid response and lead corrective action for recurring molding, tooling, automation, testing, material, quality, and labor issues.
- Improve standard work, visual controls, escalation practices, startup verification, changeovers, production reporting, and employee training.
- Partner with Quality and technical departments to maintain ISO 13485/9001 requirements, minimize disruption, and support validations, audits, engineering changes, and equipment improvements.
- Control overtime, direct labor, scrap, consumables, and other operating costs within the assigned area.
- Create a culture in which safety, quality, urgency, ownership, disciplined communication, and respectful teamwork are expected on every shift.
Qualifications
Required
- At least five years of manufacturing experience, including two or more years leading production employees, supervisors, or technical teams in a multi-shift operation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage schedule attainment, labor, scrap, downtime, quality, and production recovery.
- Strong floor-leadership skills and a willingness to personally verify problems and operating conditions.
- Ability to organize cross-functional resources, assign ownership, and follow actions through completion within a formal quality-management system.
- Strong communication, coaching, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and production or ERP systems; high school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred
- Injection molding, liquid silicone rubber molding, automated assembly, or leak-testing experience.
- Medical-device or other regulated manufacturing experience, with familiarity with ISO 13485, ISO 9001, GMP, Lean manufacturing, and structured root-cause analysis.
- Experience supporting automation, tooling, validation, or equipment-improvement projects; SAP experience is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in operations management, engineering, business, or a related field.
What Success Looks Like
During the first six months, the Manufacturing Operations Manager will be expected to:
- Establish clear daily priorities, reliable shift handoffs, and consistent performance reporting.
- Improve accountability for output, schedule attainment, first-pass yield, scrap, labor, downtime, and corrective actions.
- Build a capable team with effective technical coverage and documented training.
- Reduce recurring failures and improve production stability, predictability, and finished-goods output.

Work Environment and Schedule
- Full-time, on-site position at our Chandler facility.
- Primary schedule is during normal weekday business hours, with flexibility required to support a three-shift and weekend manufacturing operation.
- Periodic second-shift, third-shift, or weekend presence will be required to understand conditions and support the team.
- The position requires regular time in manufacturing and cleanroom areas and use of required personal protective equipment.
Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is $90,000 to $110,000, based on experience and qualifications. Benefits and additional employment details will be discussed during the hiring process.
