Full Job Description

OVERVIEW: Junior Account/Bookkeeper

At Contractors 911 and Bergolla, we are committed to operational excellence across every level of our business – from field operations to financial reporting. As a growing multi-entity construction and general contracting organization, our finance and accounting team is critical to our ability to execute projects on time, within budget, and with full transparency. The Junior Accountant plays a key support role within the accounting team and contributes directly to the financial integrity of the organization.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accountant / Bookkeeper to support the financial operations of our construction company. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with job costing, processing transactions, and supporting day-to-day accounting functions. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and experienced in the construction industry, with a strong understanding of project-based accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

Record day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable
Process vendor invoices and subcontractor payments, ensuring proper documentation and approvals
Assist with job costing by tracking expenses per project and maintaining accurate cost reports
Prepare and manage AIA progress billing, including schedules of values, pay applications, and retainage tracking
Track, prepare, and file Notices to Owner (NTOs) in compliance with state requirements and deadlines
Monitor lien rights documentation, including lien waivers and subcontractor compliance paperwork
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts regularly
Prepare and issue client invoices, ensuring accuracy and alignment with contract terms
Maintain accurate payroll records and assist with payroll processing (including job cost allocation)
Support month-end and year-end closing processes
Assist in preparing financial reports such as profit & loss statements and cash flow summaries
Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and construction regulations
Maintain organized financial records and documentation for audits and internal review

Qualifications (Required):

Previous accounting or bookkeeping experience in the construction industry is REQUIRED
Hands-on experience with QuickBooks is REQUIRED
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
1–3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience within a construction environment
Hands-on experience with AIA billing, progress billing, and retainage
Working knowledge of Notices to Owner (NTOs), lien laws, and compliance requirements
Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred Skills:

Familiarity with Procore (experience is a plus, not required)
Experience with schedules of values and job cost reporting
Familiarity with payroll systems and certified payroll reporting
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel

Work Environment:

Office-based with occasional interaction with project managers and field staff
Fast-paced environment with multiple active construction projects
