Full Job Description

Coral Gables boutique law firm seeks a part-time litigation legal assistant with 5-10 years of commercial litigation experience.

This is an in-person position with a punctual 10:00 a.m. start time, 3 days per week, 8 hours per day, for a total of 24 hours per week. The firm is flexible regarding which three days are worked. Occasionally, additional hours beyond the scheduled workday may be required based on the firm's workload and client needs.

The firm’s practice areas include commercial litigation, business disputes, real estate litigation, employment law, condominium law, trust and estate litigation, civil rights litigation, intellectual property, and outside general counsel and business advisory services.

The firm practices in state, federal, and appellate courts, primarily in Florida and California. The practice also extends to Washington, D.C., Louisiana, New York, and Texas.

The candidate must have proficient use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and court portals.

The position entails the following responsibilities:

1. Prepare, file, and serve pleadings, motions, notices, discovery, and other litigation documents through the applicable state and federal court e-filing systems, including e-service and courtesy copies to the Court when required.

2. Maintain organized electronic case files, including pleadings, discovery, correspondence, exhibits, orders, and client documents.

3. Assist with discovery, including drafting preliminary discovery templates, organizing document productions and bates-labeling materials.

4. Draft, proofread, revise, and format templates for pleadings, motions, notices, correspondence, discovery, and other litigation-related documents including drafting table of contents and table of authorities.

5. Prepare hearing, mediation, deposition, arbitration, and trial materials, including binders, exhibit lists, witness materials, and case law pulled from Westlaw.

6. Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, vendors, and third parties regarding scheduling, filings, case status, and administrative matters.

7. Schedule calls, meetings, hearings, depositions, mediations, and court appearances, including coordinating calendars and confirming logistics.

8. Provide general administrative and clerical support, including answering calls, scanning, saving documents, maintaining contact lists, processing mail, and assisting with other office tasks as needed.

The pay is $23 - $27 per hour based on commercial litigation experience.

The position includes a small, private office, a designated parking space and bonus pay at the end of the fiscal year.
