Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Human Resource Manager is responsible for all human resources practices including staffing, policy and program management, new employee on-boarding, training, and compliance. This professional will work with senior management and all staff to ensure a results oriented, yet fun working environment at Wagner
Greenhouses and Garden Centers.

CORE EXPECTATIONS

 Recruit, interview, and facilitate hiring of qualified candidates.

 Establish and maintain relationships with Regional educational institutions that have horticultural programs.

 Work with department supervisors and management in production and retail to determine staffing needs.

 Report weekly on status of all staff candidates in process.

 Maintain and update job descriptions, employee handbook and other policies.

 Manage employee benefit program and renewal process to ensure employee satisfaction; conduct open enrollment meetings.

 Facilitate successful resolution of employee relations issues; conduct investigations and ensure proper documentation and response.

 Work with Accounting Department on payroll processes and provide back-up as needed.

 Determine training/development needs and coordinate trainings for managers and all employees.

 Perform Worker Protection training.

 Facilitate safety meetings and collaborate with safety team to promote safety.

 OSHA record keeping.

 Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment law including, EEO, FLSA, COBRA, FMLA, ACA, INA, and OSHA; recommend best practices.

 Maintain personnel files.

 Compile census data for 1095 reporting.

 Manage annual U.S. Department of Labor H2A program.

 Coordinate company events to promote a fun work environment.

 Continuously improve policies, processes, and procedures.

 Other related company projects as assigned.

CORE COMPETENCIES

 Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to interact with team members, management, and customers.

 Bilingual English-Spanish preferred.

 Critical thinking, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.

 Planning and organizational ability with attention to detail.

 Other core competencies will be defined by your direct supervisor/manager.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

 Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource or related field or 5+years of experience in Human Resources
Management.

 Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint

 Experience in horticulture or manufacturing industry a plus

 SHRM Certification (Preferred)

MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 Ability to be on feet while performing job responsibilities

 Ability to sit for long periods of time

 Frequent alpha/numeric keyboarding

 Ability to view computer for long period of time

Part-Time-24-30 hours/Week
