Referral Coordinator / Check Out Medical Center

Location: Monroe, GA, 30655

Position Summary

The Referral Coordinator will offer friendly, courteous, and confidential assistance to all patients in person or by telephone, always exemplifying excellence in customer service. This employee needs to be self-motivated to successfully complete all needed tasks and possess the desire to learn by accepting feedback well from leadership. The Referral Coordinator will schedule initial specialists, follow-up, and ancillary appointments for referrals as ordered; as well as process insurance authorizations for specialist referrals, as ordered.

Duties and Responsibilities

Work as a cooperative team member with all departments of OFH.
Maintain open communication with leadership while following the chain of command to assure all issues are properly addressed.
Answer phone calls and voicemails in a timely manner.
Document all communication with patients by phone or in person into the patient’s chart in a clear, concise, and thorough manner.
Review and process all outgoing referrals including specialist, home health, hospice, and DME equipment and supplies, obtaining insurance authorizations when applicable.
Assist patients with Patient Portal as needed.
Cross train for all duties covered under the Patient Support Department.
Complete all assignments from management as directed and within the requested time.
Manage outgoing faxes, scan folder, encounters, messages, actions, and emails within 48-72 hours of receipt.
Complete weekly and monthly reports as assigned.

Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent.
Excellent customer service skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Knowledge of EMR systems.
Prior experience in a medical practice or equivalent preferred.
