Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activities Coordinator to energize and enrich the lives of residents in a senior living community. In this vital role, you will design, organize, and oversee engaging activities that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. Your enthusiasm and creativity will foster a vibrant community atmosphere where residents feel valued, connected, and inspired to participate in meaningful experiences. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on seniors’ lives while working within a supportive team environment.

Duties

Develop and implement diverse activity programs tailored to residents’ interests, abilities, and care needs, including memory care and dementia-specific activities.
Coordinate resident events such as social gatherings, recreational outings, and therapeutic activities that encourage participation and foster community spirit.
Collaborate with nursing staff, caregivers, and family members to ensure activities align with individual care plans and promote resident engagement.
Assist residents with daily living activities (ADLs) when needed to support their participation in programs.
Maintain detailed records of activities, resident participation, and feedback to continually improve program offerings.
Build strong rapport with residents through personalized interaction, ensuring each individual feels comfortable and valued.
Manage schedules efficiently to balance activity planning with other operational responsibilities within the facility.

Skills

Proven experience in event planning, recreational therapy, or program development within assisted living or long-term care settings.
Extensive knowledge of geriatrics, dementia care, Alzheimer’s disease, and memory care strategies.
Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, staff, and community partners.
Demonstrated ability to lead team efforts in organizing resident events and fostering a lively community atmosphere.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for record-keeping, scheduling, and communication purposes.
Experience working with seniors or individuals with disabilities in home or community care environments.
Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple programs simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
Compassionate approach to caregiving that emphasizes resident rapport building and aging issues counseling.
