The Billing Clerk is responsible for supporting the Billing Department by performing clerical and administrative tasks related to billing operations. This role assists with payment posting, document management, and communication with internal teams and external partners to ensure accurate and efficient billing processes. The Billing Clerk plays a key role in maintaining organized records and supporting overall revenue cycle operations.

Reporting Relationship

Billing Manager

Responsibilities include the following:

1. Assists Biller-Collectors and the Billing Manager with daily tasks and projects

2. Requests and obtains medical records from providers or hospitals as needed

3. Retrieves and attaches required billing documentation

4. Posts payments into billing systems (CPR+/CareTend)

5. Follows up on outstanding patient invoices

6. Serves as a liaison between the Billing Department and third parties

7. Copies and scans checks for bank deposits

8. Maintains and updates the daily check log with incoming payments

9. Answers and directs incoming calls appropriately

10. Sends, sorts, and distributes incoming and outgoing mail

11. Scans, files, and maintains electronic documentation

12. Prints and mail monthly patient statements

13. Collaborates with internal departments to obtain information necessary for accurate billing

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Experience:

· Prior office or administrative experience preferred

· Experience in a pharmacy or home infusion setting preferred

· Experience with CPR+ or CareTend preferred

· Experience in customer service or phone support preferred

Skills & Competencies

· Ability to evaluate options and to make efficient decisions.

· Computer skills include proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing, and efficient use of the internet and e-mail.

· Possess and exercise advanced level of accuracy.

· Ability to use good judgment and work with minimal direction.

· Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to express technical issues in “layman” terms. Fluency in a second language is preferred.

· Customer service, and problem-solving skills, with a professional and collaborative approach.

· Effective interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.
