HSS is seeking Traveling Taskforce Chief Engineer and/or Maintenance Technician for Nationwide Assignments!
Assignment length: 4–8 weeks (up to 6 months)
Pay: $25 - $35 per hour

Job Overview
We are seeking experienced Maintenance Technicians and Taskforce Chief Engineers to manage and perform maintenance and engineering operations for hotels. This role ensures guest and employee safety, comfort, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
Maintenance Operations
- Perform maintenance and repairs on building interiors and exteriors, including hotel rooms, plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, refrigeration, and water treatment systems.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are operational and ready for daily tasks.
- Execute and achieve preventive maintenance program goals to maintain property standards.
- Handle renovations, work with contractors, and oversee project timelines and budgets.
Guest Experience
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest maintenance requests, ensuring high satisfaction levels.
- Maintain a secure environment for guests, staff, and hotel assets by addressing safety and security concerns.
Team & Department Leadership
- Plan, organize, and schedule work for maintenance staff, ensuring proper coverage.
- Train team members on safety procedures, maintenance tasks, and compliance standards.
- Promote teamwork through communication and coordination with other departments.
Financial & Inventory Management
- Monitor department budgets and control expenses while maintaining quality standards.
- Establish procedures to secure and replenish tools, supplies, and equipment efficiently.
Skills & Requirements
- Specialized expertise in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
- Certifications such as Level 3 EPA, HVAC certification, or relevant licensing (e.g., licensed plumber, journeyman electrician) are preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull 100–300 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks (e.g., standing, bending, climbing, kneeling).
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Qualifications
- Some college or advanced vocational training and at least 4 years of experience in building maintenance or construction (including supervisory experience).
- Previous hotel maintenance experience is strongly preferred.
- Professional certifications and licenses as required by law.
Additional Information
This position may require travel, with room and board provided for out-of-town assignments. It is the top maintenance/engineering role in a small to mid-sized full-service or extended-stay hotel, which may include older buildings with unique maintenance challenges.
