Full Job Description

Parkland Properties of Michigan is a real estate development and holding company that acquires, develops, owns, and manages properties throughout West Michigan. These properties include vacant land developments, adaptive reuse of historic buildings, office buildings, apartments, condominiums, retail, rental properties, and hospitality. Parkland Properties also operates luxury rental properties in Miami, Aspen, and Northern Michigan.

Due to the continued growth of the company and increasing accounting demands, we are looking to expand our accounting team with a dedicated Bookkeeper. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting daily accounting operations, and ensuring timely and accurate processing of financial transactions across multiple entities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Record and maintain financial transactions for multiple properties and corporate entities.
Process accounts payable, including coding invoices, obtaining approvals, and issuing vendor payments.
Assist with accounts receivable, including invoicing, deposits, and collections.
Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts.
Prepare and post journal entries.
Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes.
Prepare financial reports and assist with monthly financial statements.
Monitor cash receipts and disbursements and maintain accurate cash records.
Maintain vendor files, W-9s, and assist with annual 1099 preparation.
Support budgeting by tracking expenses and providing financial data.
Assist with annual audits and tax preparation by organizing financial records and supporting documentation.
Work closely with the Controller and accounting team to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
Communicate with property managers, vendors, and internal departments regarding financial transactions and account inquiries.
Maintain organized accounting records and filing systems.
Assist with additional accounting and administrative projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 2–5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred.
Experience in real estate, property management, construction, or hospitality accounting is preferred.
Working knowledge of bookkeeping principles and general accounting practices.
Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software preferred.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Professional demeanor with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative accounting team.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
