Remote Vehicle Inspector- Michigan

OVERVIEW
Rideshare Mechanic/Bright Inspect was founded in 2017 as a virtual mechanic with a mission to enhance the onboarding experience of rideshare drivers by offering the most convenient vehicle inspection. This is accomplished with the use of a smartphone to conduct inspections over live video chat (i.e. a Zoom call). We are seeking a mechanic who is certified in the state of Michigan to support our demand for Michigan-based Lyft and Uber drivers. The inspector will engage in a live interaction with drivers and guide them through the 20-point state-required vehicle inspection (training will be provided). Those with good customer service skills, ability to multitask within technology, and attention to detail will excel in the Vehicle Inspector role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

● Begin inspections on time and complete in a timely manner
● Communicate effectively with driver regarding completion of inspection and any issues
● Complete inspection over Zoom video chat
● Confirm driver need for inspection and overview of process
● Inspect all required points of vehicle inspection
● Collect VIN, license plate, registration expiration and odometer reading from driver vehicles
● Update internal systems based on inspection outcome
● Communicate with coordinators if any issues come up

REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must have at least ONE of the Michigan mechanic certifications listed below (any one of the certifications will suffice):

Engine repair
Engine tune-up/performance
Front end, suspension and steering systems
Brakes and braking systems
Automatic transmission
Manual transmission
Electrical systems
Heating and air conditioning
Collision-related mechanical repair
Unitized body structural repair
Pre-1973 vehicles

- Candidates must have their own computer, smart phone, and reliable internet and cell service

- No prior experience necessary; training will be provided

SCHEDULE / WORK LOCATION

● Full/part time remote position,
● Flexible hours and schedule; we are looking for mechanics who are available for at least 20 hours/week

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
